Just got home from a day at Xel Ha and while I admit that there are some things that I did enjoy today (like snorkeling and the river float) there were many things that made the day not enjoyable. First off our transfer from our hotel was very good (although it did come late) the driver was very nice and personable. Once we got the park we went though the gates and then saw the very VERY small area that the dolphins are kept in. They have it right in the area that everyone walks though so you see them and will want to book the swim with dolphins add on. We saw one dolphin that was just bobbing up and down in the same spot who didn’t look how a naturally happy dolphin looks. Once we got past that we headed up the river so we could do the float and while on the tram we saw a truck pulled over to the side that was filled with Macaws. The birds we jammed into small dog kennels and probably had 5 or 6 in each of the 5 kennels. I could not believe that they would keep them all so jam packed into those small cages. As I said the river float and snorkelling were all very fun but I could not get the over the fact of how poorly I saw the animals being treated. Later we saw those same Macaws all around the park being used for photo ops. And on our way out we saw a dolphin in the exact same spot bobbing up and down repetitively. We also had an instance where a staff member was very rude to us. It happened at one of the towel pickup areas. We had been waiting in line and we were finally at the front and had asked for 4 towels when staff member Edwin turned away from us while we were speaking to speak with someone behind us. Thinking that he just needed a moment we waited until he started reaching over us to return their snorkelling gear. They man in the family was speaking Spanish and handed him a few hundred pesos and continued to ignore us for at least two minutes. The rest of the staff we in-countered were very nice! It just seemed that because he was getting tipped from someone else that he was fine with not helping us. Also if you do not like sitting in a ton of smoke then this might not be the best place for you. People were allowed to smoke in restaurants and pretty much all other areas. Overall I would say that the biggest problem here is the animal exploitation. They use all the animals to draw big crowds to make a ton of money from people who love animals but don’t understand that the way they are being treated and kept is not fair. I would not ever choose to go back here.

This place is incredible. We had a whole day out and it went so quickly!
It’s a park and I would definitely take sea/water shoes and take towels too.
The food and drinks were all inclusive and was super tasty.
The snorkelling was amazing, so clear and so much to see. We also did the underwater snuba caleta which was amazing too!
Would also recommend the picture package, they’re fantastic quality and worth it.

Admission to this park was included with our stay at Hotel Xcaret Mexico. We arrived at the park early (around 8:30am) and walked around to get an idea of where everything was. We did the river float and there weren’t a lot of other people around. It did get crowded later in the day and we were glad we’d been able to do it before the crowds came. My wife did the cliff of courage jump. She said it didn’t look very high when viewed from the water, but once she got up there it took a few minutes to muster up the guts to jump! We snorkeled near the floating bridge and near the stingray encounter and saw tons of rays while we snorkeled. If you want to see the rays, definitely go to those areas. The fish like to hang around the rocky areas, so if you stick to the sides where the rocks are, you’ll see lots of fish. We had lunch in the Mexican buffet and it was excellent. Our included transportation back to Hotel Xcaret wasn’t until 6pm and by 3pm we were exhausted; so, we took a taxi back to our hotel instead of waiting for our included transportation. Taxis were plentiful and easy to find by the entrance/parking area. The rates for taxis are all posted there too. We had a really good time at this park and would definitely visit again.

Great swimming around in the lake but everything else u gotta pay extra , kills the mood as soon as u see this sign additional cost ! From looking at the activity sheet I believe 50-70 percent where additional cost! If u did all activities I believe u could be up another couple hundred dollars on top of entry fee swimming in the lagoon ok ,zip lines are very lame , jumping off a cliff is so so nothing much more exciting unless u wanting to pay for it ! Just not worth the day out
