I will start by sharing that we had a great time at Xel-Ha. They have plenty of activities with a great variety, so unless you are trying to be bored, you should have plenty of engaging fun while you are here.
If you want to just sit and relax – by yourself, or where you can people watch – you can do that too.
The most enjoyed activity by our group, was the Power Snorkel. You’ve seen it in many movies, and here you can do it. Definitely cool.
A close second was the Snuba with the Stingray’s. Pretty fun.
Photo Packages – Highly Recommend – they have plenty of camera stations. If you take advantage of them, you will get your money’s worth for sure!
WHAT XEL-HA IS…
Lot’s of other activities. No need to list them, as you can see them in any brochure or here on line. For an easy one-stop to do a lot of things, this is great. And, I do recommend it !!
WHAT IT IS NOT…
This is NOT the best place to go snorkeling. This is NOT the best place to see a Cenote. It is NOT the best Zip Lining. It is NOT the best river float. etc.
If you are wanting a fantastic…single…experience, this is not your place.
If you want a great variety of activities that the whole family can try, this is a wonderful choice.

We spent the entire day here and still didn’t get to do everything, the park is huge with much to do. We saw wild monkeys and parrots which was a highlight, otherwise lots of animals – in captivity – some with great living quarters some with awful and sad enclosures. The cave/river float was a highlight, and the evening show to end it all was incredible. Great eats and lots of places around the park to grab a snack. If looking to save time, skip the jungle walk it was fairly lame, save the time to do something you really want to do. It really is beautiful and I’m glad we went.

Great weather this time of year, and crowds were light. River swim was good, not too cold. Staff is friendly.

This was our second visit to Xel-ha and loved it just as much as first time round.
The biggest attraction is the lazy river – it is easily a mile long if not longer, you can either jump on a tube (rubber ring) or swim/snorkel. We Decided to swim/snorkel. (Top tip, wear flippers or you will be trying to get to the end forever!)
Lots of snorkelling, seen some amazing fish, big and small.
Lots of other attractions you can pay for. I’m not a big fan of captive dolphins so stayed away from them.
Day was fully inclusive of food & drinks which was great, breakfast was strange but lunch excellent.
All equipment provided, however I would recommend taking a full face snorkel mask if you have one. Also swim shoes are a must as there is a lot of walking about.

If you love water , this is the place for you.
Let me start by saying the water is NOT cold, and this makes it so easy to spend the day in the water.
You have to wear a life jacket and there are tons around the park, so don’t be too concerned If you’re not a strong swimmer.
There’s not loads to do but enough included for free to have a fun day :
Lazy river
Snorkeling
Cliff jumps (X2)
Assault course
Zip lines
Fish feeding
Lighthouse slide & views
Floating bridge
Underwater river / caves
Cenotes
Rope swing (not very big)
I was reluctant at first due to the quite steep cost (considering its basically snorkelling) but it was definitely worth it and I would 100% go again.
Could have spent the whole afternoon just watching people fall off the assault course.
TIP – When you go round there are places where you can scan your wristband so a photo is taken, do this as much as possible! We didn’t as I never buy photos from these places as they are a rip off but the photos are actually brilliant, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever looked so good. We didn’t get enough photos to make it worthwhile to buy the package.
They do sell waterproof phone cases in the shop but they are expensive! Like £30. Get one before you come or from Playa.
There are a few different restaurants on site, we ate at the international buffet and the food was surprisingly good. Prawns, pizza, noodles etc.
The only thing that put me off this park is that it sells animal encounter attractions for a premium. It’s supposed to be an eco park ( no chemical sunscreen allowed) , but yet it keeps manatees and dolphins in small enclosures and forces them to play with guests. I felt so sorry for the animals, if you truly liked these animals I’m not sure why you would pay to keep them in captivity. It’s basically a prison.
