The tour to Cobá and Tulum were great, our guide Miguel was informative and on top of keeping us on track. We got 3 hours at the park and it was great. Worth every penny, food at the buffers is tasty and drinks were great.

We had a great time at Xel Ha- lots of activities to keep busy with, extremely clean facilities (including the bathrooms and locker rooms) and very friendly staff. The price is all inclusive for most of the activities, but also for all of the food and drinks (alcohol too!) as well as lockers, towels, etc. We snorkeled and swam with the fishes (LOTS of fish!), we tubed down a beautiful lazy river, jumped off the cliffs, zipped down the lines, and paid a little extra for the Sea Walk, which was just amazing- they put these full helmets on you and you walk along the sea floor among all kinds of fish and stingrays that underwater guides herd in your direction. So much fun! You can also pay for a photo package- they have cameras mounted everywhere, and they give you a bracelet that you can scan to activate the cameras- then pick up your photos online. They also sell waterproof cases for all cell phones that you can use to take your smartphones in the water to take your own pictures- those are a little pricey, but well worth it. Overall, it was a fantastic day!

When you go in, get the free locker keys and put your things in It, then go directly to the bikes and ride along the path to the tubes.
Hop on a single or double tube and float through by paddling with your hands. I recommend the double so that your whole body is out of the water. The single tubes are only half tubes so your legs are in the water. Great scenery.
Along the way you stop at two 15 foot cliffs to climb up and jump off. We didn’t buy the photo package but if you do then you scan your wristband everywhere you go. We should have brought a go pro or underwater camera or waterproof cell case to take our own photos in retrospect. Water shoes recommended but I had flip flops which also worked. I just took them off and attached them to my life jacket when swimming.
We stopped at a ropes course which was a fun challenge and not busy since we went there first. Later on in the afternoon we snorkelled the same path and by then the ropes course was super busy.
Went to eat at restaurant B (highly recommend by our tour rep) that opened at 11:30. Traditional Mexican food. Had some drinks while we waited for it to open.
After that, we walked across the bridge to the cenotes, but couldn’t swim in them – too shallow and stagnant water which didn’t look clean.
Then went snorkelling along the same path that we tubed along earlier, but didn’t see many fish. By then the park was super busy. The sunblock over the years has killed many fish. I went 20 years ago and saw hundreds of colourful fish.
They recommend natural sunblock but should force people to shower off before entering the water because many people still applied regular sunblock and didn’t care about the environment. If you’re worried about getting burnt then wear sun shirts while in the water. It works better than sunblock.
We then went to the water slide which is super high. You should be able to climb over 200 steps or don’t go up. My sister in law had a bad knee so had trouble. Four slides and it goes around and around. My brother got dizzy. Don’t wear a cotton shirt or water shirt on the slide because you won’t slide fast and also, don’t go up on your heals and shoulders because then you’ll go way too fast and almost go over the edge and may rip the skin off your elbow like my husband did. There’s a huge drop at the end and it dumps you into the water. You get disoriented and don’t know which way is up. Luckily there are people there to help you get out of the water. But plug your nose before you get dropped at the end or water will go up your nose. Then we ate more food at the other restaurant which had amazing chicken. Relaxed in the chairs and watched some iguanas fight until it was time to leave. Disappointed about not seeing many fish. We paid about $121usd since we had a large group but then they tried to sell you other packages once there like going on a speed boat or walking under water or swimming with the dolphins. You can also pay to get the dead skin eaten off your feet by small fish.
It was a good long day and fun. Slept on the hour long bus ride there and back to the hotel.

We took a tour from the resort. The bus trip was comfy. Upon arriving, we could get lockers easily and recommend the Brown locker area as it did not have as many people as the other stations. Our priority was to snorkel but did not see much fish since winter months are not that great. Later, we were told summer June-August are best for snorkeling. Last time we had gone to Xcaret, which may have been better as it is man made vs a natural cove like Xel-Ha. For snorkeling, it was a bit better downstream near the yellow and red stations.
Tubing was good fun on the lazy river. It is the same starting point for snorkeling. To get there.you can take the train or a small bike path. We took the bikes. With young kids would recommend the train.
Zip lining over the water was good fun (spent about an hour). Food (international) was very good. The water slides were excellent fun. We did not have time for other things but there were activities to play with dolphins, walk on the sea bed, scuba, jungle biking etc. Lots to do for diverse families.
Although we took a bus tour, several people had their car rental as they may have take a multiple day pass. Although the resort ticket is cheaper, it likely comes to the same. With the bus, it is probably more safe and hassle free.
