One of the activities from the Cancun Go card. Did the dolphin interaction and enjoyed the park. Snorkeling and exploring the beautiful water and jungle. My daughters did the lighthouse waterslide and liked it. I chickened out. It’s all inclusive, which is very convenient. The resort staff were great!

We went to the Xel-Ha as an excursion from the Riu Dunamar hotel. The first note here is that the travel time was about 3 hours! Pick up at 7.30, we were driven to the X park central travel hub (x parks include Xcaret, xenses and five others), before getting on a second bus.
Before the trip we were informed that everything was included except for dolphins but this is not entirely true as there are a series of extra activities not included in the standard entry.
I can’t remember all of them but the sea trek (which we did for $60 each) and the sky bike (we didn’t do c. €30 each) are a couple of examples on top of the swim with dolphins, dolphin sea trek, manatee encounter etc…
Quick points of note:
– only bring biodegradable sun cream, you will need protection but if your cream is not environmentally friendly it will be held at the entrance with sachets provided as a replacement, this is great and you can top up anytime, but for ease it would be awesome to have you’re own.
– there are cameras placed around the park that can be activated with the entree bracelet and all photos taken in this way can be bought as a package for c $60. This isn’t too bad when considering one photo is $18 but it is a preference call.
– all drinks and food were included for us, unlike Xcaret where a vip ticket entitles you to one meal and one beer. The all inclusive element makes everything much more relaxed.
We started the day with the sea trek after changing and using a free locker. This was a fantastic experience, where you are lowered into the water with a helmet on and you walk along the sea floor amongst the fish. The instructor tries to make sure the fish swim all around you with food bribes, this made everything into a very immersive experience. There was a cameraman in the water with us, who was also videoing the experience. Therefore, still photos and a full video is available for purchase after (photos are included with the park package mentioned above).
Our next point of call was a drink on the way to the lazy river. We tried the xplore and xel-ha cocktails – delicious!!
The lazy river gives you a chance to drift through the natural water park at a leisurely place and was wonderfully relaxing. It is possible to end up in a mini traffic jam on the one or two seater floats, but no one really cares as you’re too busy enjoying the surroundings.
Note: you can leave valuables in a zip bag to be transported back down the park for where you finish and life jackets are available before starting the floating.
There are several possible stops on the river (cliff diving, zip lining etc…) meaning you can still fill time and enjoy the day without paying for extra activities.
Another activity included included in the entry is snorkelling, which can be “hired” from a couple of outlets and there are plenty of places to use and explore once in the water.
Finally, there is a massive water slide which is definitely worth a go as it’s not like any slide we’ve tried before, albeit it’s not for the light hearted.
We found all the staff very friendly and helpful, and overall had a fantastic trip.
Whilst the leaving process seemed a little chaotic it was still structured with people helping us to the appropriate bus stop to get back to hotels

We liked the range of water activities from rye giant lighthouse water slide to snorkeling and zip lining as well as the food options. It was unfortunate that we weren’t aware of having an eco-friendly sunscreen on hand because the park employees confiscated (until the end of the day) our sunscreen and gave us trial pouches of their eco-friendly sunscreen which didn’t do a very good job of protecting us from the sun.
If water activities is all you are looking for, this is the park for you. However, I would rather go to Xcaret again next time – it had a much broader variety of activities and more about Mexican culture and history.

My 5-year daughter still remembers this place – and we went there when she was 3 (I entered visit date as Feb 2019 as Tripadvisor doesn’t give me option to put anything further back). They need to offer multi-day passes as it is impossible to do the whole park with kids.

If you like swimming then this is the excursion for you, we spent a whole day here and we could have easily spent another one and there was so much to do and see. If you go to Mexico and don’t give this a try then you will really miss out. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
