We were excited to come here as we had heard so many good things. Unfortunately, our day got off to a rocky start when we had to walk past the dolphin pools when we arrived. I have never understood why it’s deemed to be O.K to keep dolphins in captivity for the sole purpose of having tourists pay for a photo of them. It’s incredibly sad.
The place itself is very pretty but incredibly busy. The “river tubing” ends up just being a crush of people going down a narrow area in the mangroves. My kids liked the cliff jumping but didn’t try the rope course as they weren’t tall enough to reach the top ropes and no one was all that interested in the small zip lines that they have.
My oldest daughter did love the snorkeling and it was a great spot for her first time as it’s calm and there are some interesting things to see. However, I didn’t feel like there were an abundance of fish. I’m not sure if that’s on the decline or what. As I said, it is incredibly busy and while they say you need to biodegradable sunscreen, most people did not have that and I can imagine that it takes it toll.
I think the biggest disappointment of the entire trip was seeing all of the snorkels just tossed in the trash at the end of the day. Apparently they haven’t found a way to clean the snorkels and re-use them, even though re-using glasses seems to be no problem in the restaurants. It was a very disheartening sight to see the trash cans overflowing of plastic when you’re in the middle of beautiful area they claim to be protecting.
I would never recommend place this nor would I return.

This was our third time there and first time with our son, 10. He loved the tower water slide, snorkeling and the float down the lagoon. We went over to the Mexican buffet for lunch which was less crowded and had great food! A really fun time for the whole family. They’ve thought of everything to make your stay great. If you can’t find biodegrade sunscreen you can trade in your bottle for some that they will give you at the entrance and then they will hand you back your bottle when you leave.

Xel-Ha! The first downfall were the dolphin pens, call me a bleeding heart but lock yourself in your house for the rest of your life. Food for thought!
The park is pretty and well maintained, bike path fun as well as the river tube run snorkeling was perfect for beginners with lots of fish to see. We also saw what I think they call a Skate Ray!
The mouth of the inlet had some pretty awesome waves crashing in the day we were there so that was a bonus too.
One may want to re-think the full day admission, we arrived at doors open and were done a little after 2:00, bus didn’t leave until 6:30 so we jumped in a cab for $60 USD to go back to the resort. It’s a long day, I wish we did a combo tour for the day with maybe the ruins in Tulum to keep interest going.

Amazing day, faced alot of fears as scared of water. Lots to do and just a really fab day out. Lazy river, jump off the cliffs, zip lining and underwater walk. Plus zip bike….all just great activities.

We arrived at the park for approx 8:15 and it was nice and quiet when we arrived. It was disappointing that the breakfast restaurant did not open till 9:30 as there was a mad rush for food and it was slightly chaotic.
Snorkelling was great and I think there is lots to do without having to pay for the extra’s.
Lunch and drinks were really nice.
Pick up was at 6pm, it might be an idea to stagger leaving times or have at least one earlier departure.
