I really wanted to give this place five stars, but, due to a couple of factors, just can’t. Let’s start with the good stuff.
The location is great. A private lagoon, cenotes, and jungle. Kind of the perfect combination of natural features that you’d want out of the Riviera Maya.
The lagoon was an enormous play area for swimming and snorkeling. Due to no fault of the park’s, my wife and I actually didn’t spend so much time there as we were focused on other activities, but even with a fully populated park, we were able to find little corners to enjoy.
The cenotes were about what you’d expect at other sites. We explored two, one an underground cavern with photo op and the other an pen-air one with a rope for swinging over the water. Both were enjoyable, but nothing spectacular.
How about the food? All included in the ticket price, which is great, and there was a healthy selection of food and drinks. I’d say the only real downsides were one that the park was so crowded in general that the dining areas, too, were packed. The other downside is what you’re basically paying for is cafeteria/buffet food. Nothing terrible, but it’s not the kind of gourmet dining you might expect from places like La Fisheria or Alux.
The included experiences. We did the lazy river experience, which we absolutely loved. It’s very cool and relaxing as you glide down the river into the lagoon. The advertising isn’t kidding either. All you have to do is sit in your tube and glide. There’s no need to swim or kick or anything. It’s truly a wonderful, unique experience. My only regret was we only found time to do it once.
The lighthouse/waterslide was also excellent. A bit of a climb, but totally worth it. The tower is very high so provides an excellent view of the entire area. And the slide itself was very exhilarating. At one point on the way down, I happened to notice that there weren’t many inches between me and the outside. Crazy!
Now to the downside. Xel-Ha is expensive. Very expensive. First, there’s the base price of over $100 each for adults. Granted, this includes food, but still, a lot. Second, there’s the add-on for transportation. Third, there’s the add-on for photos. That’s actually totally worth it, but expensive. Fourth, there are the add-ons for some activities, like snuba and massage.
The thing is, the included activities are good, the lazy river, the lagoon, the cenotes, the waterslide, but the extra activities are even better. So you don’t really feel like you’re getting everything out of the park unless you get at least one of those, but at about $50 a pop, that adds up very quickly. In our case, we got snuba and a massage. More details on that in a sec. Other activities include swimming with dolphins, speedboat ride, Sea Trek, all at least $50.
I’ll keep the massage bit brief. My wife was really looking forward to this as she’s really into massage and spas. She was very, very disappointed. She reported that, at the cost, she was expecting longer, more treatments, and, frankly, better customer service.
In my case, there were ups and down about snuba. The ups? An amazing experience. I mean, if you aren’t certified for scuba (which I am not as of this writing), then you get all the best of scuba without having to take the classes and spending on the fees. Basically, you get some training in how snuba works, you get your breathing tube and other equipment, and you jump in.
I did the cenote snuba experience and, true to the description, our group swam around a cenote, and a little into its accompanying cave. The instructors were great, the water was perfect, and we got pics and vids taken of us.
The downside? Other than the price, the entire experience was about an hour and a half and that included about a half hour of training. Granted, the training is there for safety, but I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed by the end. Also, the copy that described the experience made it sound like we were gonna explore the inner chambers of an underground, underwater cave system. That sounded amazing! Well, what the experience actually is is you go in a big circle around the cenote, which, yes, includes a section that’s technically in a cave. Now, that’s fine, partly to blame on my overactive imagination, but I want people to know what they’re actually experiencing.
So, overall the park has a lot of crazy potential, lots to do, but given the insane prices involved in doing so many incredible things is frankly prohibitive. In the end, for just two of us, we probably ended up spending about $500 on one day of one visit to one park. Not even Disneyland costs that much. And it has Space Mountain.

My hubs and I have been here 5-6 times in the last 10 years. It’s always a great time. Lots to do, beautiful water, fun adventures, good food and drinks. We buy the inclusive one that way we get lockers, snorkel gear, and all you can eat and drink.
This time we went with my Mom, whom is 70 and my kids that are 5 & 6. We started off snorkeling. Had some drinks. I got virgin Pina Coladas and such for the kids. We then had lunch and they had plenty to choose from, as well as some vegan options for my Mom. We went tubing down the river, then jumped off some cliffs. Zip lined into water, looked some ruins, went down tall water slides and saw some cool animals. I bought a waterproof phone cover and wished I’d had purchased sooner. It’s a lot more affords than buying the pics they sell. Then we rushed to dinner just in time because they were closing in 1/2 an hour.

We visited today. The food was excellent. We had breakfast in the Buffet and lunch at the Mexican Buffet. Drinks were amazing! We floated the river. Water is cold but refreshing! Lots of activities if you want to pay extra.

Excellent activity and value!
We visited the lighthouse tower water slide, be prepared to walk up several flights of stairs – if not for the thrill the scene and photos at the top are absolutely stunning and well worth the trip up. The snorkeling at the park is amazing, we had a great time in the snorkel area. The lazy river is a must – it is absolutely amazing, be sure to stop off at the activities on the way down. We crossed the floating bridge and took pictures at the xel-ha sign. I wish we had more time to visit the beach but we ran out of time and we were there all day – from open to close.
We paid extra for the Cenote Snuba adventure – this was an absolutely amazing experience so glad we did it. Take cash to tip these guys they did an amazing job from instruction to photos. We didn’t have cash and went back at the end of the day but they were gone. Jaime if your out there…thanks and we owe you.
The food at the park is amazingly delish! Way better than the food at our resort. The bar is great. Be prepared to wear masks into the restaurants. We had disposable masks and lost some and could not find a store to purchase – so please have a mask handy while at the park.
The photo package is well worth it. We paid $80 for a family of 4 and we got over 200 pics. The photo setup they have at this park is genius. Although we did bring our own water camera (go-pro) the photo system here made it much easier to take group photos and capture the amazing scenery of the park.
This park is very well organized, they have a plan for everyone, from storage lockers in all the appropriate areas to camera in all the appropriate spots.

I ordered 2 days in error. When I pressed the complete button the total was $366.00. However, now the total states $732.00. I called the 1 855 362 0682 US number and after “discussing” the matter with the customer service rep requested that I speak to the manager. The customer service rep had me on hold for 10 minutes, 49 seconds that cut me off.
Read into the customer service as you wish.
