Cooling off in the floating river is refreshing. Great food, nice shops, 5 cenotes and a tall water slide, and some fun water adventure activities. Kids loved it, even my 7 year old did the cliff jump, twice!

We have been here twice. The first time was 4 years ago and we had a great time again! All you can eat and drink. The lazy river. So much fun.

This day was perfect in every way!! We did the SeaTrek and it was an amazing experience. Even my little scared-y cat daughter was excited! The snorkeling was so fun and we saw a HUGE stingray! The food was great! Our recommendation to save money, bring water shoes. We didn’t have them and had to buy them for all of us. You don’t need them but it’s much easier with them. We did every activity: snorkel, cliff jumping, lazy river, zip line, ropes course and everyone had a great time! Also, the photo package is worth it’s money. We received over 100 photos and didn’t have to carry a phone/camera around with us.

Between Xcaret and Xel-Ha, we chose Xel-Ha. We traveled with 2 young kids and wanted a place where we can have fun by the ocean and explore some nature. We’re glad we chose Xel-Ha because it did give us the slow family paced we were looking for. Everything is pricy as everyone else has noted. We paid for the photo package where our wrist bands can take pictures throughout the park. However, one of our wristbands never worked. We also couldn’t find more than 5 places to take our pictures.
Finding a locker was difficult too. We arrived by their Xel-Ha bus and got here early but kept on getting redirected to the furthest locker by the buffet dining area.
We wasted our time walking around since that locker was so far from our dolphin session. Once at the dolphin encounter we discovered there’s a locker area too BUT only for dolphin encounter guests. So moved all our stuff from the far locker to this new one and kept the key until the end of the day since this was an ideal location for lockers.
The downside to this place was the towel service. We were turned down 3 times since they won’t give us any towels until AFTER the encounter. We had to rinse ourselves down at least 15 minutes before we weren’t allowed towels. But then AFTER the encounter, they take you straight to the freezing photo viewing area to buy photos. We were freezing and we still couldn’t get any towels since buying photos was more important for them.
We only dined at the buffet area, the food was decent. Not bad for themed park food. They gave away free snorkel tubes since they can’t be re-used due to COVID. We couldn’t find signs pointing to underground caves so we never found it. We thought we found an entrance but it was really dark and steep and didn’t want to take a chance. Better signage would have helped. The cenotes were covered in algae so we didn’t go in. But it was still great to take a picture.
The jungle trek is a bug’s buffet. For all the expensive items they sold in the stores, they should have had a store that sold bug repellent. I would have paid gold coins for bug repellent. Between the 4 of us, we had over 100 bug bites. One of our kid got bitten so bad we had to call our pediatrician since the bug bites looked like measles on her. But rest assured, it wasn’t measles, just allergic reactions are different for everyone. The fun part is we didn’t know we got bitten until the next day.
Overall, Xel-Ha reminded me of Sea World San Diego. The place is maintained very well and clean. It was pretty empty when we went. No lines for majority of the activities. Even though there were still lines for buffet and the giant water slide. I can’t imagine this place at full capacity. We spent over $300 at this park that’s AFTER the admission price between extra add-ons, photo package, and souvenirs. But despite a few minor setbacks, it was definitely worth checking out. It is a beautiful place.

First time in Cancun and decided to do Xel-ha. Enjoyed it way more than I thought I would especially since I don’t know how to swim. Loved the bike ride to the river then went across the river in a tube. There’s really a lot to do there, from snorkeling to cliff jumping to cenotes and river swims plus breakfast and lunch included. Love every minute of it.
