   Started out slightly frustrated as I had bought admission tickets and the extra sea trek tickets online back in February. I thought buying tickets and having everything in order before we got there would ease the admission process. It did not. We still waited in line for 45 minutes to get in, signed waivers multiple times and was not informed I needed to book a reservation for the sea trek activity. We finally figured out they needed us to sign yet another waiver, they needed my license (again) which was already locked up in a locker. This could have all been done at the admissions desk, we had to find the right person to take care of our reservation to find out we barely got our reservation in time to do it. We got the last reservation of the day, I guess I thought if I bought a ticket online in February, I would be guaranteed a spot to do the $65/person activity I paid for. Luckily we tried doing the sea trek first thing when we got there and found all this out right away. The buffet food was ok, fun to try the different things. My kids were refused service on two different occasions when they were trying to get sodas/food for some reason. Made them feel bad/embarrassed after standing in line. Not sure what that was about. They also made my son put a mask on in the water. I feel like we were constantly being reprimanded for this or that. Wearing a mask outside in 90 degree weather was definitely different for us since most mask mandates aren’t a thing where we live anymore. We’ve been vaccinated and can prove negative Covid tests. Wasn’t expecting to have to wear a mask outside. All of the above just made it a little less enjoyable. The sea trek activity was pretty cool, the rest I could take or leave. The short tube down the River was cool, didn’t see a ton of fish snorkeling, the view from the water slide was cool. It was also nice to not have to worry about paying extra for food and drinks for the day. Overall I guess I would keep it real and stick to the less commercial, more authentic experiences down in Mexico. Support the little guys instead! Also, our pictures turned out pretty cool that they took with their photographers/scan me kiosks but cost over $100, so if you don’t want to shell that out take your own pics!

   We loved this place so much back in 2016 we came back in 2021. It has not changed much since our last visit except some newly added bus and tour drop off area. The park was crowded much more this time then our last visit and we went on a Tuesday. I cant imagine how bad it gets on a weekend. I recommend bringing your own snorkel gear as the gear they charge you for is $25 and of low quality. The food and regular beverage is all inclusive but it is just average not that great. The line when you want to eat is long. At least 45 minutes to over an 1 hour depending on when you try to eat. I love the mangrove tubes and snorkel. The best spot to see sea life underwater is over by the inlet by the water spout by the island rocks. This is just around the bend of the area where they offer the snuba. Found a huge stingray by the snuba area. There is a lot to see and a lot you can do. I dont recommend this for children under age 5. If you want to enjoy yourself make this a trip with older kids like teenager age, bringing kids under age 10 is just not going to be fun. The activities are for older kids and adults NOT little ones. Honestly, I dont think the park should allow kids under age 5 as a safety issue. After all it is a water park in the ocean.

   My son requested Cancún as his BD destination so I booked us a 4-d weekend. He selected this excursion which turned out to be a wonderful experience (despite early departure time 😉 Tour organizer Cynthia was fabulous as she efficiently corrected our origination so we did NOT wind up being dropped off at the OTHER Grand Oasis which was 3 mi away.
   We had minimal wait time as she marched us straight to entrance gate, where we could soon dive into our natural adventure. Snorkeling near surface was a little murky which I realize is out of anyone’s immediate control – Z and J did the power snorkel and reported deeper visibility was terrific, they had a great time!
   We enjoyed everything associated with the river, jungle nature paths, and cenotes exploration. All too soon our fabulous day came to a close but definitely want to come back.

   We found Xel Ha to be very crowded, with bad signage and over hyped. Our experience at local cenotes was head and shoulders above that of Xel ha. We left after a few hours having done the lazy river – queues to get to the inner tubes, then water bound queues to get through the lazy river. Not relaxing, super stressful and over priced for what it is.

   Also has NOONE watched the documentary blackfish? Cruel dolphin interactions were advertised outside in the ticket hall and you have to walk past the water pens to get to the lazy river and other attractions. It’s ALWAYS wrong to interact with captive cetaceans in these circumstances and paying to do so is only continuing this cruel practice.

   The Biggest aquarium in the world 🌎
   Highly recommend for all ages. The snorkeling and
   Biggest lazy river are awesome. It’s all inclusive
   Including towels. I bought the picture package It’s definitely worth it. Water shoes are recommend you can buy inside but they cost $30 or $35. They provide snorkeling gear so all you have to do is have fun.
