Absolutely breathtaking trails, waterways, and views! They have lots to do. Bring a pair of water shoes, as they are 3X more expensive than what I paid at home (Ontario, Canada). We floated/snorkeled/swam the river twice, and both times were amazing. Food is ok, nothing amazing, but the rest of the park made up for it. We didn’t pay extra for the “add-ons” (manatee experience, swimming with dolphins, zip bikes, etc) but we didn’t need to. There was plenty to do without all of the extras. Definitely worth the money. Will 100% go back next time I’m in the area.

I only wish we had more time there ! The lazy river to the ziplines is a must. The snorkeling fantastic. We swam w dolphins, did the sea trek. The kids playground and obstical course was great

First, plan to spend most of the day! A lot excursions will do Tulum in the morning and Xel-Ha in the afternoon – honestly, you should steer clear of these. Trust me, an afternoon is really not enough time to take this place in!

The most important thing to remember is that this is a popular place which makes it very busy. Getting there early is best because of the “Tulum/Xel-Hal” excursions mentioned above. We love snorkeling and the large lagoon area leading to the floating bridge will not disappoint. Also go to the bridge itself and take a peak underneath. Trust me – quite the view 🙂 The lagoon and bridge is also less busy than most areas. The lazy river is cool and worth it but one of the more busier places.

They do have snorkeling gear but I cannot speak to the quality or where to get it because we took our own. They have life jackets.

Lastly, I recommend doing a private transfer (USA Transfers is great) or a Taxi. This way you can control when you go and when you want to leave. As you can tell, I don’t care for the “shared or group” exclusions 🙂

A great experience where you can snorkel for hours!

    Tips:
    1) get there early, no later than 9 am. Allows u to get a kicker where u want, est breakfast and start snorkeling.
    2) if u plan to leave a closing th.e get your locker right near the main buffet. If u leave with tours it gets really busy when they leave. U should get a more remote kicker near the slide.
    3) eat early then explore the far side. Zion lines etc. Come back fir kunch then hit the slides etc. Less busy this way
    4) take a cab and spend the whoile day. About $35 CAD each way. Still cheaper than the tour.
    5) Buy your tickets online and save money
    6) there is a deal if u buy fir more than one park or twice for the same one. Usually 50%off ths second park.

So this was our first time in Mayan Riviera area together and we didn’t know the lay of the land. We were very impressed with the size of the park, the clockwork efficiency of the bus transport to & from our resort (arranged by our local WestJet rep at the Grand Princess Riviera)

The lazy river was Cool for first-timers but would lose its novelty and get old in a hurry. The dolphin pens seemed somewhat prison-campish and gave me the creeps – not a fan of corralling / domesticating these fascinating and intelligent creatures. They just seem too aware for that.

Snorkeling in the long, shallow lagoon was just amazing, again, for first-timers like us. Though, talking to some of my SCUBA friends and other hardcore snorkelers, we believe we would soon be bored with the smaller scale and limited variety of tropical fish in it compared to skindiving an offshore coral reef. Ahhh, first world problems. 😉

The food and drinks were included in the cost for the day trip and were tasty and plenty – but the variety and quality was not nearly as good as at our resort.

Must recommend the hammock napping area – it was a God-send after 5 hours in the water, a huge lunch and a couple of drinks. 🙂 2 thumbs waaaaay upppp …zzzzzz
The Toucans were amazing and seemed very comfortable with the guests, allowing them to take pics with them.
HUGE spiral water slide! (about 100 feet high) that looked amazing and some crazy ziplines, including one that used modified undertaking bikes – but we didn’t try them as my wife doesn’t like heights. They have some Cenotes to see and swim also, but again they would be dwarfed by the better Cenote places.

All the kids we encountered seemed to LOVE the place!
Some of the repeat adult visitors seemed a little nonplussed or jaded but overall, a greatly satisfying day for a couple of noobs. 🙂

    Happy Trails
