Water activities there are abundant hammocks are great and swimming is so relaxing can’t wait to go again next year at the same time the weather was amazing.

Xel Ha is a great place to visit for snorkelling, swimming, water slides, cliff jumping, floating, zip lining into water – just about any water activity you can think of. Or if you want to let the kids do that, lots of chairs and hammocks to relax in. About the same price as most places in the area, but all your equipment, food, drinks, lockers are included. The park is really well laid out, and the lockers and change rooms are clean, signage is super easy to follow, staff is friendly and helpful. We only did the basic package but we should have got there earlier to do more. The shops carry good quality stuff at reasonable prices – not tacky tourist stuff at all. Recommended.

Read the fine print, NOT ALL ATTRACTIONS ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR ENTRY FEE.
True there is unlimited snorkeling and food, but if you want to do anything really cool you have to pay extra. (I take that back, the big tower water slide was included.) Like $40 for the zip bike. It was fun but certainly not worth $40. Dolphins are extra, manta rays are extra, snubbing is extra, having little fish eat dead skin off your feet is extra. Yes, you actually have to pay to put your feet in dirty fishpoop water and have them nibble on you!
It really was a fun day, and the park is gorgeous. Oh, and remember water shoes. It’s a big park and your feet will be sore by the end of the trek. At least my lilly-white-Northern-haven’t-seen the-sun-since-September-feet hurt!

We had a family of 8 (4 adults; 16 yr girl; 2 x 13 yr boys; 10 yr boy) in
April 2019 and thoroughly enjoy Xel ha. We booked this trip on the hotel zone at a Xcaret office adjacent to Fiesta American Hotel Coral Beach/Chedraui (top of “7” of hotel zone). The lady quoted us $120 USD per adult, which includes their bus transport to/from hotel zone. If you book 1 excursion, you get 10% off; 2 or more excursions = 15% off. We only wanted to do Xel Ha, so she offered 10% off (booked 2 days ahead). If you book online at least 7 days ahead, you get 10% off; and more if you book more than 2 weeks ahead. Since we had 8 people and didn’t want to deal with the bus, we asked to book us a private transport, which she happily arranged. We paid something like $60 or $80 total more and got a 10 person passenger vehicle/private driver. We got picked up at two separate hotels at 7:00 am and 7:15 and were at Xel Ha by 9 AM. We left at 6 PM and got back to our hotel by 7:30 pm! We heard from another family that Xel ha bus got them from hotel and transported them to another place to change buses!
We ate breakfast at the hotel and went to the lighthouse slide first while everyone lined up to eat. The kids weren’t too impressed with the lighthouse slide because they could only do the slow slide (13 yr and younger) and not the fast slide (14 yr up). Water in their eyes and in nose at bottom of slow slide. No hats/googles/go pro/phone/camera/sunglasses/shoes allowed on slide. There are lockable lockers and open shoe boxes for those items at entrance of slide. There are 3 restaurants: international (american/mexican) buffet (closes at 5;30); mexican buffet (closes at 5); and fast food (american) place (not sure when open/close). We ate at both international and mexican, but would recommend international if you have kids. Although I liked the mexican place, my boys didn’t like it and you can get mexican food at the international place anyway. We snorkled near the lighthouse slide and saw so many beautiful/colorful and large fish including sting rays and barricudas. We swam away from the docks where you enter, to the reefs (dark structures in water) and rocks to see colorful/large fish. We did swim quite a distance so small kids might not make it that far. Best snorkling I’ve done so far. The kids enjoyed jumping off the 2 cliffs, tubing through mangroves, and ropes/zip lines. The water doesn’t really move so tubing is really floating/baking in the hot sun so we didn’t do much tubing other than thru mangroves, which is shady. We also saw the 2 manatees at the manatee viewing station (free) and many wild coatis (racoon like) at 5 PM eating the bugs in the ground. The coatis were right in front of us/free/in the wild and so adorable. There are also macaws on display near the international food place and a beautiful toucan with a handler which you can pay to get photos. I felt sorry for the toucan because the handler would hold its claw so it wouldn’t move off its stick. The toucan kept trying to pull its foot away, but handler would firmly hold its foot in one place. Xel ha–Please let the toucan freely move around. Ecofriendly sunscreen are those with zinc oxide and/or titanium oxide as only ingredients listed in “active ingredients” and remember to apply several times throughout the whole day. Overall, a terrific value for all day event and includes all you can eat food. TIP–bring water proof case for phone and/or go pro and eat at off times to get most of your activities. Photos would’ve cost us $80 for family of 4.

Definitely not the place for solo travelers .or people looking for adventure or the ‘real’ outdoors! A very structured eco park focusing on thrills and nature. I enjoyed the water slide (about 20~25 mins wit each time), but the other ‘thrills’ such as the zip line and cliff jumping were pretty lame for adults. Also, I arrived in the afternoon, and most of the shows were already full, so couldn’t see them. Probably grade for primary school aged kids! The food was good, and for young groups of teens I bet the water activities and all-you-can-eat/drink are fantastic! All day drinking, wahey! The entrance is pretty prices, especially as you need to pay extra for a lot of the attractions. If you want to pay extra for more than one attracton, get the combo pass as it will work out cheaper! If you want ‘real’ nature, go out into the countryside for a hike or to the beach! Great family fun.
