Our group of 8 adults and 4 kids (ages 8,8,10,11) had an awesome day at Xel-ha! We took a taxi from our resort and bought tickets at the door- we did it this way so we weren’t on someone else’s time. So much to do and worth every penny!

Such a fabulous place to visit, although we would have liked two days here!
Fabulous, well organised, beautiful park. Natural water to swim in or relax on a donut! Great opportunity to snorkel and enjoy the sights, and enjoy the exciting extra activities that are available. Would recommend sea trekking! The park is all inclusive with great places to eat and drink.

Very peaceful and relaxing area. Included buffet is very good. Staff is friendly and attentive. Decent alcohol selection. Excellent day trip to relax and unwind while being in contact with nature. On the down side, many attractions cost extra. Over all a very fun and relaxing experience.

3rd visit and would go back again. All inclusive with meals and drinks. Loads of time to snorkel and relax between swims and meals. A bit put off by the dolphins and manatee in small enclosures but I would never spend money to add such an activity and hope my lack of financial support helps curb the activity. Not overly crowded like xcaret so you can actually move around both on land and in the water without feeling uncomfortable. Good food and well laid out with lots of shady spots for hot days.

My family of three had the very best of days here (two adults/ one 9 year old). Honestly, it was a fantastic surprise. We avoid tours and lack stamina (or long for some quiet to read a book) for all day outings. We got tickets through credit card points and thought we’d give it a try. Since we had our own car, we anticipated leaving early (parking was ample, easy, and free). And much to the wonder of all three of us, we found ourselves at Xel Ha from opening to closing. Everyone had a great time. It was a beautiful, all around wonderful day. Xel Ha has thought of all the details. You truly can just show up in your swimming suit with your (biodegradable) sunblock and enjoy the day.

The park is spotless, and the staff are friendly and always on hand to help. Food was fine, cold beer was great, and we enjoyed a mix of swimming, zip lining, rope swinging, walking, cliff jumping, floating, snorkeling, etc.—as well as just lazy time savoring the beautiful views and sipping cold beverages.

We were there on a Wednesday and had no issues with crowds. There were never lines in the restaurants for us and any waits at events (zip line, etc.) were never more than a couple minutes and only in the afternoon.

We were impressed with the overall care taken to think ahead to guests’ needs: places to put drinking cups, towel bins throughout, ease of getting and returning snorkels, etc. etc. Xel Ha has this down right.

Some details: We traded sunscreen once in the park for packets of the biodegradable kind. We all had sunshirts and swimshorts—I also had a hat–and we were grateful for the extra sun protection. There’s a lot of walking; my son wore swim shoes, and we had on Chacos. I was nervous about drinking fountain water and brought water bottles. Totally unnecessary. They have water at all soda machines, serve it in glasses in restaurants, and I’m assuming it’s the same water source in fountains, so we just went with it and drank all water in the park (put our bottles in our locker). There was something really freeing about not having anything with us–no phones, no money, etc. Our son didn’t dig a snorkel mask, so I was glad I’d tossed in his personal goggles. He preferred to just wear those.

I’m not sure if there’s a right or a wrong way to see everything. The map was a little overwhelming to me. You can do a big loop to see everything in order, but all the restaurants are on one side, so eventually you have come back to refuel. We didn’t do any of the add on events and decided not to worry about time or extra walking/swimming if we needed to back track. We started with the adventure area (had it all to ourselves), came back for breakfast, then looped around the other side of the park to the rope swing, caught the train (truck) to lunch, headed back to the adventure area again, swam back to the locker area from there, etc. etc. Not having a plan worked out fine. We saw everything we wanted to and visited all of our favorite spots twice.
