Beautiful park with lots to do! The food in the buffets were great and there was a large selection. Our family spent most of the day just snorkelling in the huge bay but there are a lot of other activities! I wasn’t very fond of the fact that most activities are extra though. It’s very misleading. However, you could spend your whole day and more doing the activities included. If you are coming here just for snorkelling though I would go elsewhere. Although we saw a lot of different fish, the water was murky. I would suggest going on a snorkelling excursion if that is what you are mainly interested in.
Also for a tip, eat at your hotel if possible and avoid the breakfast buffet here. While everyone is eating you can take advantage of the short lines for other activities . Also, I would suggest doing everything you want to do aside from snorkelling first as it’s very frustrating having to get out and take off equipment, take back equipment, do the other activity and then get the equipment and put it back on again.
The reason why I gave it only 4 stars is the transportation to and from your hotel provided by xelha. It was very disorganized and chaotic. The video screens that show a promotional video about xelha were very loud and disruptive. People on the bus were extremely loud and disruptive. I know this is not xel-ha’s fault but next time I would rather spend the few extra $ and get a private ride. We also didn’t even arrive until 9:30am- an hour after the park opened. So if you want more time in the park/ want some peace and quiet I would suggest arranging private transportation!

I booked a trip to Xel-Ha along with a visit to Tulum. I was hesitant to try this place because I’m not really a swimmer so water parks aren’t my thing. But I let my son’s excitement about the trip win me over. Big mistake on my part.
You’re required to wear life-vests on most of the activities in the park but that really didn’t help me with my attempts at snorkeling. I couldn’t see anything & I couldn’t manage the snorkel mouthpiece properly so I kept ending up with a mouthful of salty water. Not fun. My husband and son fared a little better than I with the snorkeling but they were bored with it pretty quickly. We moved on to the waterslide which I refused to try but son and husband tried it. I guess they liked it ok but they both mentioned the CLIMB it takes to get to the top of the slide. Neither was expecting that. I waited at the bottom and saw a few people come flying off the slide and get a little disoriented in the catch pool but there were lifeguards there to assist them so that was reassuring. But the thought that you need lifeguards for a “fun” waterslide is a little scary.
A lot of the activities we would’ve tried required extra fees on top of what we had already paid for admission. And people need to be warned up front that there’s a ton of walking from station to station. We could handle it but anyone with mobility issues might have issues with the amount of walking involved. But it was very cool walking through the jungle trails.
And lastly, I always feel badly when I see wild animals in captivity so it was depressing seeing the dolphins confined to those tiny pens.
We got there around 1 and my son was ready to go by 4 so I think the park was overpriced for our time spent there.

We had visited Xplor earlier in the holiday so were really looking forward to Xel Ha.
First of all, we went during Semana Santa so it was VERY busy. There were pretty long queues to get in at 0900.
Also, it is quite confusing when you get there – it is hard to understand where everything is and what to do!
For some reason, when we got our lockers, they gave out the keys in the same area, so you couldn’t really move!
So, in retrospect, the best thing to do is to get a locker and grab your snorkel/mask/flippers etc and have a breakfast, then either cycle to the start of the lazy river or get the land train – i’d recommend the cycle as you see some animals running around.
When you get to the start of the lazy river, you can dump anything you like in a bag and it will be ready to collect at the bottom near the restaurants.
The main thing here is the lazy river – you can either go in an inner tyre or snorkel into the main part – we opted for the former and it was a real crush. Obviously as you get further down river, the crowds disperse…
Along the river, there are fish to see especially near the sides, and a number of cliff jumps, rope bridges and zip wires. But that is really about it.
We went down the water slide which was good – but decide which route to take – we didn’t realise and went up the wrong stairs as they split half way up. White is faster than Blue – i’d recommend the former.
We had an extra activity of the the zip bikes through the trees which was good. Just as we finished the heavens opened and thunder and lightning ensued for 45 mins. When we made it out, the park was a joy as there was hardly anyone around, and we went on an almost empty lazy river and enjoyed lots of zip wires even though I am sure it was well after 1800.
Food as per Xplor is great – but go to the large covered one rather than the one in the outside as the selection was much better.

My daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren – 9 and 6 and myself spent the day. We were picked up by van in puerto morelos. It was a great day. The park is very clean and the staff very helpful and tried very hard to speak English. We loved the lazy river ride and me, the grandmother snorkeled for the first time ever. The restaurants were very nice and the food good. We had a GREAT day!

Snorkelling here is great! If you love water activities I would recommend spending the whole day here. At our hotel there are combination packages so you can do xel ha and Coba or xel ha and tulum. We did just xel ha and in my time at this park doing the combo would not be enough time to really enjoy the park. There is a massive slide and extra activities which have extra cost. Our hotel was xcaret and the park was included so we did two extra activities. We did the sting ray and fish therapy. Sting ray was about 30 min and fish therapy was 15 min both were located close together. There’s also lazy river, zip lines, underwater sea trek, swinging bridge, beach (closed when we were there), dolphins, adrenaline boat. If you plan to do extra activities book before entering the park cuz they sell out fast. Also at every park they offer the picture package. We brought our own camera but this was the only park we used the pictures. They offer a 10% discount on pictures if you buy before entering.
