This place is worth every penny, but you have to love water. We were there 9-6 and could have used at least 2 more hours. The Mexican buffet was the best food we had all week. The snorkel gear was good and we saw lots of fish. Kids loved floating down the river and would have stayed the whole day at the water ropes course.

Came as part of our honeymoon booked the trip through Thomas cook. Picked us up early from our hotel but it meant we were there before everyone else. When we got there we went onto the lazy river and stopped at the cliffs to jump off and the zip wires in the water. Was empty at this point and didn’t have to que for anything. We then did a few other bits such as water slides, caves, floating bridge and had a wander round the park. We had our lunch (there was a choice of two restaurants opened when we went the Mexican and the international these were both average buffet styled lunches) both werent too busy when we went (12:00) but had long ques by 13:00 onwards. After lunch we did some snorkelling in the natural lagoon. Lots of things to see we even saw two sting rays! The snorkelling gear is free to borrow for the day at the park. We then went back round the lazy river around 16;00 and it was much busier by then (bumping into others etc) but still not too bad there was also ques for the jumps and zip wires by this point. Overall the day was amazing and we kept very busy without paying for any of the extra activities on offer.

Xel-Ha is an amazing all-inclusive natural theme park featuring kids of snorkeling and swimming opportunities for the family! We went here (family of 5) in August 2018, and we enjoyed everything we had a chance to try, including the food!

If you’re paying for multiple tickets (hey there, fellow families!) the costs add up to a pretty pricey excursion, but it’s so worth it! We purchased the photo package on our way out, which we don’t always do when doing tourist-y, theme park thinks like this, but the photographers here were surprisingly pretty good! Between the automatic cameras and the on-site photographers, we got a LOT of wonderful family photos. (I’m including one of them in the photos I’m attaching to this post – it’s got the Xel-Ha official watermark on it.)

When we come back to the Riviera Maya/Cancun area, we want to visit this park again (if we have enough energy and time left after Xplor during our next vacation in Mexico).

Absolutely recommend this to adults looking for an active yet relaxing day, and to families with kids under the age of 10.

    Some tips:
    – If coming here with children, splurge on the package that includes transportation from your hotel. We tried to go cheap on transportations costs to get here from our resort, but rather than take a colectivo as planned, we ended up in cabs (one from our hotel to Playa del Carmen, then another from Playa to the park) which cost way more than the transportation add-on would have and was seriously stressful.
    – If you’re getting here on your own, get here very early or after 1pm to enjoy the park away from the tour bus crowds.
    – Please do your part to keep the world’s reefs and oceans healthy and thriving! Get yourself some biodegradable, reef-safe sunblock before you arrive. I think it’s a shame nobody was enforcing this requirement or at least informing people at entry (at least we weren’t). They sell sunblock here of course, but it’ll cost you a lot more than if you just bought it on Amazon before arriving.
    – If you’re buying your tickets online, considering adding the photo package *then* for the best price on unlimited digitals. They’re tied to your tickets so you can see them shortly after your visit. We purchased them on our way out, and we only paid about $100 USD for all the digital photos taken during our visit— including the photographers and the automatic cameras.

Great day out loads to do. make sure you get there early so you get a chance to do everything on offer. The park now offers free allday food and drinks and lockers, with chaning rooms, swim with dolphins, manatee and sting rays here, zip wires, lazy river and if you are daring enough try the extremley high water slide, (heard a lot of screamers going down that! not for the faint hearted.)

  5. Alex Edwards

Me and my partner came here on our last full day and it was amazing. A nice mixture of fun and chilling out! There’s so much to see and so much to do and even more if you pay for the extra activities!!

Had no issues here throughout the whole day but I imagine that if you had any issues, they’d be resolved pretty sharpish!

All of the equipment used was fine and worked fine.. locker was a good size, food was good there, drinks fine!!

Just an all round good day! Definitely do not miss on your trip to Mexico!
