We snorkeled over an hour and forty minutes! Lots of fish.
Since our hotel was above Playa del Carmen, it was a long trip. Guide on bus tried to sell the extra experiences, but we knew what we wanted to do. We brought our own snorkel equipment, except for fins, we used theirs.
Decent breakfast, good lunch, good wine. Not crowded the Tuesday we went, no wait for a table at buffet. Did not do Mexican restaurant this time.
If you bring a big backpack, the locker area near the snorkeling does have some big lockers.
Grounds are lovely to walk. Lots of shaded seating. If you do not wait too long, showers are empty til around 4. Nice bar to relax.

I’d give Xel-ha 4.5 stars if I could. It was great for my Colorado adventurous family of four with two boys 12 and 10 but I can see how it might now be great for everyone. The park was very clean; even the bathrooms were very clean and kind of quaint. Everything was free with the all-inclusive including food, drinks, lockers, towels, snorkeling gear (you get to take the snorkel with you and it comes in a plastic bag so you know it is CLEAN).
I recommend spending as long as you can here to make it worth the $$. Drive your own car if you can as parking is easy and then you don’t have to spend time picking other people up.
Here is what I would do now that I understand the park:
1. Ride bikes or take a ride to the top of the lazy river.
2. Grab a tube for a relaxing ride down or snorkel gear for a fantastic ride down seeing the fish in the fresh and cool river.
3. Stop on the way down at two cliff jumps: climb up and jump down.
4. Hit the zip lines and ropes course as MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT WITH SHORT LINES.
5. If you snorkeled, snorkel across the bay and look for stingrays. There’s not a lot to see but it’s a fun swim and you get lucky with a few things like the stingrays. Keep your expectations low, though. This is a crowded amusement park; if I were an awesome fish, I’d be elsewhere.
6. Grab some food and a few drinks at the buffet; surprisingly good.
7. Relax and then take a leisurely walk through the garden and pictures with the Macaws.
8. Once the food has settled, hop on the lighthouse water slide. For a faster ride, take the inner tube. Again, keep your expectations low and you’ll have a fantastic time. it’s the longest water slide by far that I’ve ever been on and you have no idea when it will end and you’ll be plunged into a pool of water so have fun.
9. Cross the bridge and check out the cenotes.
10. Grab more drinks and do whatever you want to do again or for the first time.

We purchased tickets yesterday for full inclusive Park tickets / transportation to and from Park / hotel from Roger Pinto at Travel Paradise. We woke our Children up at 6 a.m. to be at shuttle pick up at our hotel on time. Waited an hour and nothing. Roger Pinto finally called us back and said that Transportation is not included, which is a lie. It says it clearly on voucher / receipt he gave us. Now we are driving to the park on our own. I called Xel-Ha park and they said they have no affiliation with the agencies, which is total B.S. anyone who sells tickets to your park is affiliated partner. I demand that Travel Paradise / Roger Pinto gets his license revoked to sell tickets for Xel-Ha. When I arrive at Park today, I will speak to the highest level of management to Express my terrible customer experience with their vendor / agency. Will keep you posted with outcome.

Second time to visit and it did not disappoint. Not a lot to do with younger children as there is no beach area but it’s a snorkeling heaven. Service is outstanding with all inclusive amenities. Make sure and take ecologically safe sunscreen and water safe pouches for your cameras. Our kids are 20 and 18 so perfect for us!

First time here with a 6,8 and 10 year old. I loved every minute of it and it is worth the money. The food was great- our favourite was the small takeout place. So much to do and explore. We did the snorkling and zip lines. Took a rest in the hammocks, slid the water slide ( it doesn’t go very fast, all of our kids lived it). When I go to Mexico again I will definitely go back. I might consider doing so of the “extras” next time.
