If you shop around you can get this as an all day package including bus transportation and all you can eat food and drink for around $80/person (12 or older is considered an adult). We were able to get this rate at Thomas Moore, and I am sure there are other travel agencies in Cancun that do a similar price. The bus trip is a mixed bag – the bus is a luxury bus, a/c with comfortable seats – but it takes about two and a half hours to get there on highway 370. The park will provide you with snorkeling equipment and towels, which is nice. They also provide free lockers for your stuff. If you don’t like walking barefoot – you will need water shoes that fit inside the fins or you could do what we did, and bring a sealable water sports bag (Amazon – $19 or less) that you can use to stash your sandals or shoes and simply drag with you as you snorkel. The park provides many activities which include swimming with dolphins and Scuba, but you must pay extra for these, and they are not cheap. The two free activities that you get with admission our the Lighthouse Water Slide and the underground river, almost everything else that is organized has a charge. The snorkeling is free however, and it is actually pretty good.

Unlike the big father of this park, Xcaret, This particular park is run quite well. We were very pleased with our experience. To begin with, the park is very pretty and there are lots of things you can do including swimming with dolphins. What I really liked about this park was that the snorkeling area was massive. They have a gorgeous natural massive inlet that you can either snorkel in or float in or swim in and it was a pleasure. What I liked even more was that you could spend the whole day there and not have to worry about spending a lot of money as you already paid your entry fee. The food there is unlimited. Unlike Xcaret park, where are you only get one meal unlimited for the day so you have to eat whatever you can at that one meal you said that and you’re done, Xcaret which also known/created Xelha Allows for unlimited food and drinks the whole day at any of the restaurants. We thought that was brilliant. There is only so much you can eat so they really don’t lose a lot by doing that and it creates for a very fun and relaxed atmosphere. We found this park was well worth the money and highly recommend it.

Let me kick of by saying try to avoid the chaotic bus transfers here and go private or small transfer- utter bedlam.
Great place to snorkel, lots of fish and rays to see.
The dolphin experience was great and it’s nice to know that they are let out of the small enclosures after hours.
Price for this experience was sensible but the pictures expensive, note that the price can be negotiated.
Food quality in the Mexican restaurant was good and varied choice, the other fast food joints looked sub-par.
Bar service on par but awful towards late afternoon with several people being completely ignored.
Other wildlife around the park to see as well and we spent a good hour just walking around exploring.
Would be nice to have a lower prices for the extras within the park eg Manitee, skyride, dolphins and rays experiences.
The slide was good too as well as the other activities, but again wearing of lifevests is mandatory and a nuisance to competent swimmers.

This was our 3rd trip to Mexico but our 1st visit to Xel ha.
We were picked up from our hotel and at the park just as it opened at 8am.
The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our day until we went on the slide.
We got to the top and was just pointed in a direction not given an option of what side to go down and we were sent to the white slide.
I followed instructions and went down, all was ok until the bottom!
You go fast….. really fast and always turning in a left direction then at the bottom the slide turns right and i hit my head on the sides and before you know it you are in the water fighting to keep your head above.
The life guard helped me up but i had lost my balance and fell over again with the worst pain in my ears I’d ever had.
I was just told to leave the water even though i was holding my ears clearly in pain.
Had a great time and great lunch up till that point and then had to leave and get a taxi back to our hotel.

Had a great time at Xel-ha, especially treading the entire lagoon with my 1 year old and my family. It was a wonderful experience I will never forget.
