We were initially put off by the price but after friends recommended it we decided to go for it. We paid extra for the photo package; again not cheap but we have a great selection of photos of the whole family which is a rarity.
Positives – all inclusive, no need for cash on site. Snorkeling was great. We all had a go at cliff jumping, such a rush! Negatives- We knew they didn’t allow normal suntan lotion so took along special sun tan lotion (as recommended by the Hawaiian government as being reef safe). This was rejected by Xel-Ha and we were given the free samples. I slapped the not suitable stuff on the children prior to handing in, me & husband used the samples. Children remained burn free but despite applying twice as much of the sample as recommended the adults burnt to a crisp. (My husband was unable to go out in the sun for the remainder of the holidays due to sun burn blisters.) I’m all for following eco rules but not at any cost. I wouldn’t normally suggest covertly breaking the rules but on this I would – bring 2 normal bottles, hand one in & apply your own stuff in the changing rooms.

So myself and my partner visited here for the day and it was lovely, the zip lines were fun, the cliff jump, food was very good for essentially a ‘water park’ (try the pinacolada at lunch) the snorkelling I couldn’t help notice what seemed to be the amount of suncream that was in the water, made it not very clear to see the fish etc.
Me and my partner booked to swim with the dolphins through our hotel credits (I advise doing it here as it’s the same price as the aquarium which I don’t agree with) so it’s a little bit more natural. On arrival and booking our time the staff member tried to persuade us to upgrade 3 TIMES in a row after we repeatedly said no thank you. Get the hint!!!
Although the enclosures are still not as big as they should be there is 3 generations of dolphins and we had the babies swimming around us too which was lovely. There were so many dolphins trainers which was good to see too. They really do look after them.
Upon leaving the water we were made to walk with one of the photo teams and lead back to the photo booth. As me and my partner said no we’re not interested we were asked again and asked to wait which we walked away (what was they going to do?) as we went to our lockers and come back out we had another staff member follow us and stop us to ask why we didn’t want to look at the photos!! And then talk in her walkie talkie!! I was shocked as it were like we were being targeted and followed. I found it disgusting to be honest. We would’ve been interested if you at-least took photos with me AND my partner. I didn’t want solo pictures? And why was you communicating over your radio, was we being watched? It was quite intimidating really.
Above all that it was a fun day. Just don’t take to hassling staff and Defiantly do not be pressured into buying the photos which is an absolute rip off anyway!! These types of places would get so many more purchases for photos if you just didn’t rip people off in the first place!

We had an amazing time here! To get to the park, a ‘Dora the explorer’ themed bus came to our resort to collect us. It was a long drive of at least an hour from Cancun, but well worth it. The park provide you with a snorkel, goggles, flippers and life jacket so you can explore the park to its fullest extent. There’s plenty to do, and an amazing experience but it’s pricey. There’s a lot of extras to pay for such as photos, and additional activities, which, if you wanted to do, would cost at least a couple of hundred pounds for 3 of us. The photo package is well worth it though. On arrival, you’re given a band with a QR code, which you scan at cameras around the park, which then take photos of you in that particular location. Take water proof camera cases or water proof cameras as you’d never get the proper experience. Food and drink was included with several bars and restaurants to choose from. The water slide there is an immense structure and well worth trying to go on, however, on the day we went, the queue time was over 2 hours, combined with standing around in 30 degree heat, set times of leaving, the vastness of the park AND then queuing to get photos sorted meant that it was not time well spent for 1 minutes excitement. Overall it was n amazing experience and worth the money we paid and would definitely go again!!

An excellent venue if you enjoy swimming and being in the water – not for you if you also prefer some land based activites though. A great day out for the price. Everything is provided for you e.g. towels, snorkelling equipment etc. The park is all inclusive and the food was surprisingly good. Water shoes are a must! There are notices everywhere around the park requesting no sunblock to be applied – which is difficult in such extreme heat especially for children. However, biodegradable sunscreen can be used. Take your own if possible as it is very expensive in the park.
