In the age of Covid they no longer provide you with paper brochures that include a map. Instead there’s a barcode that leads you to a link where you can find a map. This link requires you to download the XCARET App. But what you are not told beforehand is that there is no Wi-Fi service in their main building and you have to go quite a distance from it to find it. The network that’s provided is unsecured… Meaning your Apple device may not like it and let you download anything from it. I spent over an hour, a very frustrating hour, learning all this and getting The app to finally download. This is time I could’ve spent enjoying the park. This hour was not my idea of a vacation. So my advice to you is download the app from the comfort of your hotel or home before you come. Just search “XCARET” and you’ll be set to go.
The thing we enjoyed the most was the long underwater cavern. It runs from one corner of the park to the other and takes over an hour to wade, swim or pull yourself along on the provided ropes. Very relaxing. All the people were happy. They were lifeguard station along the way as well as places you could depart from the cavern if you did not want to go all the way to the end. But the luscious 72° water made you want to stay.
The show at the end of the day in the big pavilion (see 60 on the XCARET map) was he don’t miss experience. It was like Ballet Folklorico in Spades!! A historical tour of Mexico followed by regional vignettes that extension we did the music of each region and the costumes of each region. Very exciting! Very loud… But in a good way. Though my wife wore her noise canceling headphones and was still able to hear well. I enjoyed it without those.
There are restaurants all over the park that serve buffet meals. Our package included this and we got a wonderful table overlooking the beach. Not all guests were that lucky but we were. The food was great and plentiful.

This tour was amazing… the lazy River was the highlight. Lockers were included in our price for each person. You could put your extra gear and change of clothes in those lockers and remain with your iPhone, credit cards, money and valuables (at the River there was a very secure locked bag process by which they secured your valuables, gave you the key and you picked up upon arrival at the other side of the River). You were given a life vest and flippers if needed. You could not walk bare feet through the cobbled stones to the River. You could hook up your flip flops on your life jacket or wear water shoes, which i would recommend. I wore the flippers. The River was cold at first, but once you jumped in your body acclimated. The River was unbelievable and very scenic. We passed through caves, saw bats, beautiful underground nature which looked organic and like it was there for centuries. It was beautiful. It went for a few miles but was quite nice. The buffet which was not included for us – was USD $19.95 and seemed quite worth it. The show at night was a Mexican cultural show spanning centuries of culture – it was equitable to a show in Disney world with retracting stages, and activities unseen. The show is a must see and left us feeling that it was money well spent.
However, We thought that this Xcaret was the one that had zip lining and the ATVs etc. but it was the Xcaret Explor. We understood this one had just as much and even more activities for teens All in all, I think that one would enjoy either one.

First off, I’ll start with saying Xcaret is an amazing place to visit. The activities are enjoyable, the evening show is awesome, and the sights are unique.
Having said that, this is absolutely not worth the price. It is impossible to get your money’s worth considering how large and sprawling this place is. The directions to navigate the property are terrible and locations of lockers are extremely inconvenient. While this might seem like a big deal to someone who hasn’t been there, trust me it is.
We enjoyed our experience. But, would I do it again (or make the same decision to go knowing what we do now?) Absolutely not. It simply isn’t worth the money. For comparison, we spent and afternoon at a public Cenote for less than $20 USD. The experience was equally as enjoyable at 1/20th the cost.
If you make the decision to go anyway because “its just money” like we did, be sure to stay for the show. Also, skip the photo pass. The pictures came out terrible. Take your own so you have the memories.

Definitely do not recommend! If you expect to do any cool activities, you have to pay way more than what you already are paying! The add-on activities are expensive. Even though there are maps provided, it’s still so confusing getting around the park. The only activity we were able to do was swimming in the river. Snorkeling was offered in our package but by the time we found it, the beach was FULL. However, the beach you snorkel in isn’t even in the ocean. So you are not going to see anything cool even if you do decide to snorkel. All the other activities that aren’t included sounded so cool, but they were so expensive. So expect just to be walking around ALL day unless you do decide to buy any add-ons. There were some other cool things to see, like sea turtles and the small aquarium. But other than that, there wasn’t much to do. The only good thing was the buffet that was included in our package. I definitely recommend doing Xplor Fuego if you want to do cool activities with no extra add-ons. Xplor Fuego was worth the money (since you do all the activities mentioned) and it was cheaper than Xcaret.
