Make sure you purchase the tickets online. Amazing, first park that I ever been in that includes food (buy the plus option or the plus plus) totally worth it. Wouldn’t buy the transportation option, there are tons of taxis so you can leave when you want. Go early because the park is huge

This is quite popular. I was more interested in the night show so only booked a night pass (which is really not that much less than the all day pass) but I had plenty of time in the park to do the River and visit the Mayan village. It is well organized with nice colored lines to help you find your way.
In regards to Covid safety the park is doing measures but guests are not social distancing and many are not wearing masks. During the show the mask wearing was better and all the dancers in the show are wearing masks.
It is great to visit, probably a bit too expensive for what it is.

With all things considered with the Covid pandemic, you would think such a large company would be able to enforce and establish social distancing and take PROPER precaution especially during a time like this. Xcaret reminds me of JFK – poor management/ sanitary measures.
I’ll be touching on 3 huge red flags of this establishment and hope you don’t make the same mistake I made coming to Xcaret.
1. Do NOT start with the River activity.
The reason I say this is because prior to receiving your life vest, you will be asked to give them your towels, sandals (if you have water shoes, you keep them) and your masks. Not only is the location of the vests/locker room not ideal, but there is a gathering of people who are not distant from one another and are expected to form a single line with no form of face covering.
2. Do NOT attend the theater.
Again, you would expect that if there were a large social gathering such as a show, Xcaret management would be able to properly distance each seated cushion. But, no. This was not the case. I ended up not attending as a precaution.
3. Do NOT go scuba diving or do any snorkeling activities UNLESS you have your own equipment.
Again, you would expect the company to have suspended such activity due to the reuse and need to sanitize equipment that you place in your mouth and are therefore inhaling every particle of the last person. HUGE red flag.
Please.. visit Xcaret but be safe about it. Bring your equipment. Keep your distance from people especially those who you might consider to be high risk (large family groups, young adults) and especially be careful with those who are elderly.
In this case, you do NOT get what you pay for. You should pay for safety and a fun experience, but neither can be fulfilled without the other.
If I had known how things were at the park, I most likely would not have come, but to read review after review and have certain expectations. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met and I ended up having to end my visit very shortly due to the fact that most activities seemed to high risk for my liking.
I want to end by saying.
Pre Covid – this park would’ve been amazing
During Covid – I would be extremely cautious especially if you’re going abroad. And, saying extremely is an understatement.

Out of all the parks, this was not my favorite, but it was still great. I feel like if you pay for the extra activities you can have more fun.
My favorite part was going in the river. When we went there was a lot of people in there. We wish we would’ve done this later in the day because of all the people in our pictures. We did one river in the morning when we got there and one river later in the day. Later in the day there was almost no one in the river which was great! We were able to go at our own pace.
There is a lot of walking in this park. Its nice to see all of the animals and the village they have. We spent more time here than we thought we would.
We did not stay for the night show, only because we didn’t want to wait 2 hours for the show to start after being done exploring the park.

Went back in 2015, went again this Nov of 2020. Nothing much has changed, but I highly recommend it if you’ve never been there.
Ok, here it goes, how see the ENTIRE park in one day.
My advice (directly from an experienced and trusted tour guide, it worked for us) if you purchased the Xcaret Plus, go directly to the lockers and then visit Blue, Green and Red areas. Make sure you do an activity, (Sea Trek or Adrenaline). Be prepared to get wet at all times. Dolphin swim is OK, but BEWARE, photos are NOT included. Be prepared to spend almost $180 in the swim and photos alone. NEGOTIATE if you can, and speak Spanish. The moment they hear you speak Spanish, they began to adjust their prices. My wife inquired on the Dolphin swim and after they told us the price, I managed to get it to $60 when I spoke Spanish and haggled with them. Then came the photos. They offered my wife one photo for $40 or all photos for $80. I told them that was ridiculous and expensive (in Spanish) and the man clicked a few things and a magical $60 came out of nowhere for all photos. I was beyond mad, but those are tourists traps for you. We ended up paying $120 total for everything. Be careful.
I recommend to eat Lunch at between 12-2pm out of your own pocket. That means after the red area, go get your wallet and pay for a meal. Save the included buffet for last, you’ll see why later. Now, after the meal, place your bags into the large bag offered at the river entrance you neglected in the beginning. This is because EVERYONE jumps into the river at the beginning, do not make that mistake. It is extremely crowded and annoying. Turn in your locker keys, and put your belongings in the transportation bags that will be given to you at the end of the river. You will see why.
After the river, you’ll end up at the red area. Change into dry clothes and carry your backpacks with you (guess what, no need to visit the lockers anymore). This gives you time to walk into the White area, the Mayan Village, Aviary, Mayan graveyard, etc. From 3pm-4pm, do a little sightseeing, its worth it. After this start heading to the Brown area. I highly recommend you take your buffet before 5pm or latest 6pm. The Mexican buffet near the entrance is delicious. You get a free beer and Yucatan Pulled pork tacos are amazing. Enjoy the meal and around 6pm start heading to the theatre. On your way, dont worry about snacks and drinks, they have them at the theater. Once you are there, get your best seats and enjoy the show. Once its finished at 9pm, remember what I said about the lockers? About 70% of the people go to the lockers and get their belongings. You already have them, so take your time and walk back to the entrance for the bus. Enjoy!
