I have traveled the world from 1 star to 5 star. I was afraid this place would be too “fake” for my tastes… like Disney. (Stop, haters Disney is good but it’s fake ok?). This place is REAL. It is a water park with real fresh water pouring into the ocean, a zoo, an aquarium where you see turtles, manatees, stingrays; a historical landmark with live ruins and replicas of such; and an entertainment complex all in one! Built for all adventure levels and ages.. If you have never snorkeled… here you can! If you are a master snorkeler, maybe skip that in favor of other things. I’m 50, I took my 70 year old parents who are also travelers. We had a BLAST. I’d take a 5 year old or a 15 year old or 25 and I think they all would love it. It offers the best of Mexican culture and architecture. No detail is left unturned and everything is beautifully architected.
Ok So what is the best price to value? I liked The PLUS package for $125 or so, It gives you a major meal (value $30) and lockers. If you need transport it can also be included. Note, BUYING TICKETS FROM STREET VENDORS COST MORE THAN on trip advisor. This meal It’s decent and you’ll want it as you should get there as early as possible and spend all the day here. Like all buffets it’s just ok.but it is huge! You can eat at the buffet ONCE but buy snacks all day long. I’d save the big meal for late, just before the show maybe at 4:30 pm. Bring cash to get a snack and beer all day there. They don’t really check backpacks so you could also bring small snacks. But just as easy to buy there. Do stay for the late show and get there by 6:15 pm or risk being nosebleed section.
Things to must see… they are well organized to put you first on the river with a life jacket that dumps you at the beach. If you do this, first get your bathing suit on and put your night time clothes in a Locker. You can shower up later. No need for fancy stuff. Grab your beach gear (shirt/shorts, walking shoes, towels, sunscreen, glasses, hat, cash, snorkel stuff, camera) in a dry bag they will bring to the end for you. Then jump in the river for a 45 min underground river that dumps you at the ocean. When you get to the end you chill for a bit with a snack on the beach and enjoy the secluded bay. You can snorkel, swim and more. This is where they want to sell you more “stuff” but its not necessary to swim with dolphins etc to have fun here. Just take advantage of what is already included. When you are done at the beach, go walk about to see the Mayan cemetery, manatees, pumas and cougars, aquarium and sea turtle rescue area, and so much more!
Do get there early – and plan to stay all dang day and half the night. If you get tired take a siesta on the beach. You won’t regret it.

As someone who has worked in management at the most famous amusement park globally (the house of Mouse), my expectations for amusements like these are either moderately high or nonexistent. Xcaret DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The customer service was first-class, the COVID precautions they took for those who chose the transportation option were the best of everywhere I went the entire month of November exploring the region. Almost everyone speaks English, are more than willing to help you in any way that they can. Case in point, my new Mexican SIM card kept telling me I was dialing the area code wrong, but the automated message would only say so in Spanish. I found the nearest customer service member, and they quickly and with such grace helped me fix my problem. It is that care to attention that is expressed throughout the park. Everyone is warm, wants to ensure you have the best time you can, and the park has genuine Mayan ruins on location… what more can you want? And if you are like me, they thankfully sell beers throughout the park to make things a little easier/more fun.
Pro tips: You HAVE to print out your paper tickets (no exceptions are made). MOBILE TICKETS ARE NOT ACCEPTED — and because I was staying at an Airbnb, it became a considerable problem for me to find places in town that could help me print one single sheet of paper. But “Mac Shop” across from Walmart were perfect, painless, and affordable. You HAVE to bring water shoes when visiting any of the parks. Sandals could work – but you will be the only person in the park wearing them while squishing around everywhere. I also recommend saving the aquarium time for when the inevitable rainstorm rolls through. In regards to food (during COVID times), the entire system seems set up to provide one large “lunch” buffet for the masses (across four different/but VERY similar dining options).
If this is your first time visiting Xcaret, I do not recommend signing up for any of their optional tours such as Scuba/dolphins, etc. As a solo traveler, I could barely see everything in one day. But the park was so brilliant that I returned for a second day the following week, and happily recommend it to anyone looking for an easy and fun time while on Holiday.

Repeat visitors. So much to see and do. We like the underground rivers but the best features are the educational exhibits. Wear water shoes, not needed in the rivers but it’s nice to be able to hop out and wander around. Catch the evening show!

Every time, I travel to Cancún , I have to visit Xcaret it’s one of my favorite place ,they have so many activities, feels like one day is not enough. One of my favorite restaurants is la cocina

The park itself is nice but very pricy.
I only recommend if you don’t care about animals in captivity.
