We had such a great time here!! Prepare yourself for a full day as it is a 2 hour trip from Cancun, but well worth it. I was not a huge fan of the Zip Bike (I am a large man and it was a serious workout) but everything else was amazing.
The Dolphin experience was a life changer. Such amazing creatures and the opportunity to spend time together with them was heart-warming. I absolutely encourage the chance!!
The Adrenalina Boat was a BLAST!! It was initially terrifying so be prepared, but after the initial spin, and your body getting used to the experience, hold on for a thrill-ride!
The Lazy River was…lazy. So nice to just sit back and enjoy a nice leisurely “stroll” down the river and really relax. And for those who don’t want to relax there were the Xsnorkels (motorized personal snorkel/movement devices) and traditional snorkels, cliff jumping (~15′) and Zip lines. All surrounded by the most beautiful landscape you can imagine.
The food and drinks were also great. I can’t remember the name of the restaurant (it was the one in the middle of the park) but they had a green chile pork chicharrones dish that was Top5 for my taste buds! And the Mexican coffee was delicious. Be sure to get an ice cream cone as well…best soft serve EVER!!
This park is whatever you need it to be, from quiet and relaxing to a serious thrill-ride. So glad we took a day to visit here!

Worst review I hope to ever write – if you read my profile, I’m usually always positive. The events that transpired on 10/19/2021 at Xel-Ha park were some of the worst of my life. My best friend & I were on vacation and decided to visit this park. The park was beautiful and we enjoyed the first hours there. However, it was thundering and raining, so we laid low for awhile. Approximately 3 pm we decided to float the lazy river. In order to get there, you must either take a shuttle or ride bikes along a bike path. We chose bikes. The bike path is bi-directional, so you are supposed to ride on the right side of whichever way you are going.
As we navigated the bike path, which was hilly at a few spots, we were riding up a hill when a man on a bike flew around a curve going very fast, on our side of the path. My friend, who was in front of me, veered away so he wouldn’t hit her. The next moment, his companion, clearly out of control of her bike flew around the same corner. She was dragging her feet on the ground as an attempt to slow down (she clearly didn’t know how to use the pedal breaks). Seeing her flying right at me, I veered into the dirt on the right side, however, she did not turn away (probably because she was out of control) and rammed me at a high speed. Her bike and body slammed into me, throwing me from by own bike and slamming me into a tree. Her head hit my head and sandwiched my whole body against the tree. I blacked out for a few moments, and as I came too I was bleeding from the head and completely disoriented. My friend ran for help.
The Xel-Ha paramedics arrived after about 15 minutes, none of which spoke English, my native tongue. The paramedic helped me get to their vehicle and take me to their triage room. They asked my friend to stay behind and meet us there, despite my disorientation and lack of ability to speak the language – which I did not like. I was taken to a triage area with a doctor who evaluated me and told me I didn’t have a concussion or skull fracture (which I was later told I did indeed have a concussion and hairline skull fractures). They also brought in the woman who had lost control and caused the accident, but separated her from me and wouldn’t give me any of her information – even though she had clearly been acting negligently.
As I was bleeding from the head with a clear head injury, the park asked me to sign waiver so they weren’t held responsible (giving me the impression this was a waiver allowing them to treat me). They kept me separated from my friend until after I signed the waiver – later as I thought back this made me wonder if they did this so there wouldn’t be any witnesses.
Once I signed the waiver, the park then told me they wouldn’t cover any costs of the accident, nor assist me to the hospital unless it was via ambulance which they wanted me or my insurance to pay. I insisted they pay a cab to the hospital near my AirBnB, which they said no too – until I dropped the fact that they took zero responsibility for me being injured at their park. Finally they offered to pay the taxi – as well as take my $30 for transportation I already paid them for the tour – so really how much did they actually pay? Probably nothing. So Xel-Ha basically offered me nothing. No refunds, no credits, NO ICE for my bleeding and fractured head while I waited for the taxi.
I spent 9 hours in a Mexican Hospital getting a head CT, treating my wounds/pain and getting follow up care. The whole incident was INSANE. The rest of my vacation was RUINED. My face will have a permanent scar where the facial laceration is, and I still have follow-up care needed. I didn’t even know till I arrived back in the US that I had a concussion or hairline skull fractures!
Moral of this story – If you go to any of the Xcaret parks – get insurance!!! They will NEVER help you.
Proceed with caution and protect yourself. You will bear ALL costs of other people’s negligence.

We booked the All Inclusive Package from one of the street sellers in Playa Del Carmen paying £70 each which included transport there and back, this saved us £17 compared to if we had booked directly on the official website.
The journey there took just over an hour on a very interesting looking bus, the seats on the bus were comfortable and the bus was air conditioned. When arriving at the park we were able to skip the queue for entry as we had prebooked tickets.
The park is huge and there was plenty of free activities to do as well as quite a few different chargeable activities.
We decided to book the Snuba Cenote activity which cost around £37, this is very similar to scuba diving. Once we had been provided with our equipment, we were sent to a large lake where we were given a short briefing and then taken around a metre or 2 down into the water to familiarise ourselves with breathing underwater. I have done many different extreme activities in the past and I’m usually fine with water activities and breathing underwater with snorkels but for some odd reason this activity really freaked me out initially. The staff were amazing, I initially refused to go any deeper and requested to end the activity early after only a couple of mins but our guide Eric was very supportive and offered to provide additional assistance to me when diving, I’m extremely grateful to both Eric and Arthur as without their support I wouldn’t have managed the dive. I managed the dive around the lake area but decided I didn’t want to enter the cave area. Eric communicated with me at all times to check i was ok and when I signalled I wanted to avoid the cave he immediately guided me back to the surface.
The food and drink inside the park is all inclusive, we especially enjoyed the pina coladas. The food was in the form of a buffet and was served by staff due to COVID. All the food we ate was tasty but out of all the meals I’d say I preferred the breakfast selection.
The only improvement I would like to see at the park is the dolphin pools need to be much larger, the park has so much space and it was quite upsetting to see the dolphins confined into such small enclosures.

We took a group of 13, almost the entire family. Everyone enjoyed this park! The food was tasty with a large variety to please everyone including the littles. The activities were diverse enough to keep all ages entertained even the teenagers! A lot of great photo opportunities. We have been to the park multiple times and we continue to come back every time we visit the area.

We booked a tour (Coba – Tulum) with a transfer from the hotel on the official Xcaret website. The tour was organized superbly – a branded bus brought us to the parking lot of the Xel-ha (as we understood most Xcaret excursions start from there) on which we moved to the tour bus. During the trip company provides drinking water in reusable bottles, refreshments, snacks and a lunch box with breakfast (most travelers departing from hotels quite early). Our guides were Omar and Ilse, with them we visited the archaeological sites of Coba and Tulum. They told us a lot of new and interesting things about the history of the Maya, they were very attentive and answered any of our questions. At the end of the tour, we had free time in the Xel-ha Park. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!
