Myself and boyfriend spent ages deciding between here and other day trips as it is quite expensive but are pleased to say we had a brilliant day here.
I will try to give as many tips as I can.
We did not do a tour but got the collectivo from playa. Super cheap. Drops you off wrong side of the dual carriageway, walk under a tunnel thing to the correct side to get the free shuttle to the entrance. Easy.
You can check if your sun cream is biosafe at a desk here and they will give you a Small packet of some that is if yours isn’t. They keep yours and return it at end of the day. OR do what we did and just keep it and say you won’t wear it in the water. We had specifically shopped for biosafe sun cream in playa and bought some which xcaret then said wasn’t, so I wouldn’t bother.
No one checks your bag so you can take as much food and water as you can carry. There are water refill stations around the park.
We actually upgraded to the plus ticket which gave us the buffet lunch. With food we had taken we managed till about 5.30 then went into the restaurant and ate enough then to last us till we went home. We ate in the restaurant by the big cats. Real good food. Check restaurant closing time as some are earlier than others.
When you go on the river you can give your bag/belongings to them to put in a bag which they transport to the other end so you don’t need to walk all the way across the park in your swimwear if you don’t want and your stuff won’t get wet.
Prepare to walk a lot. We covered everything but we kept moving and did some things fast. We were there at opening to make sure we had the whole day. My phone says we covered nearly 15km walking.
Definitely make sure you go to the show in the evening it was impressive and a great over view of Mexican history
There are some gorgeous little sea pools towards the ocean. Try to go to them for a chill at some point
Overall the ticket is still expensive but it’s a really good park so we feel like we got our moneys worth

It was Excellent experience i totally recommended it. You can do a lot of different stuff.
Watching animals / Sitting infront of the ocean for view // Playing in water parks with kids.
Night show it was nice my only issue it was full in Spanish also since i went there with 2 kids ( 1 yr and 4 yr) so they were not interested and sleepy.
So it was hard for us to enjoy it maybe the first part only.

Nice park. Float down the river was good, kids loved it (wear swimming shoes if you have them). Snorkeling was very busy/crowded. Turtles were huge. Buffet had a line up but was good once we got in. Cultural show in the evening was spectacular. Only negative part of the experience was at the entrance, we had purchased a package at our resort and it took over an hour at the gate with 5 kids (2 families) for them to figure out what we had purchased. Was a good day for the most part.

We spent 12hrs at XCARET and barely scratched the surface – there is just so much to do for all age groups. Had we known we would have spent some time up front planning our day but we know that for next time. Definitely download the app before you go. Great set up with secure lockers to store valuables/stuff you don’t want to carry around. The park is huge but well laid out with clearly marked colour coded pathways & signage to get around. We ate in one of the buffet restaurants- great food. We chose the dolphin experience (extra charge) and swimming down the underground river and highly recommend both. Very glad we stayed on after dark to watch the cultural show in the main arena (7-9pm). Arrived back at the hotel very tired but with lots of wonderful memories. Would go again.
