this place is huge and the paths are made of stepping stones with rough surfaces (anti-slip). We did the river walk which was the highlight of the day. The beach overlook was one of the prettiest views of the coastline. Plan to stay for the evening Mexico Espectacular. Would definitely go to another one the Xcaret parks.

We visited this park during our New Year cruise trip. We booked it through Carnival Conquest. Our daughter loves parrots and a parrots world it is! This is a very reasonable tour to book through cruise because the park ticket itself costs $100, and you pay the same amount for the tour which includes transportation and guide. It’s better do it through the cruise because of the length of the tour. Since the park is huge and has so much to see, so it’s a longer tour. When booking through the cruise you are guaranteed to make back to the ship so not to miss the sailing time. The ferry to main land where the park is is quite long, about 35 minutes. We were lucky to have a wonderful weather and calm sea. I can see in a not very calm day some may face sea sick during the ferry ride if not prepared. Our tour guide Karla was very cheerful and personal. She helped to transfer our belongings from the starting point of river floating to the end point so we didn’t have to rent the safe and save us the time from having to make a return trip for the belongings. She explained the history and interests to the people who were with her and made sure everyone gets back in time for the final ferry. I highly recommend this park/trip. It’s very beautiful and diverse. You get to enjoy the sea, the floating river, the tropical vegetation, the culture/history, the birds, manatees, dolphins, etc. If you go from cruise, just remember you’ll need to prepare for a waving ferry ride.

We went to Xcaret during a cruise.
It’s a huge place and even though we spent the entire day there, we weren’t able to see or do everything. It was easy to get a locker so we didn’t have to carry everything around.
We particularly enjoyed the Secret River and the Maya Village where you can buy really special souvenirs. The kids playground with the maze and slides was awesome, too.
There are many attractions that are not free and those are expensive, for example swimming with dolphins (15 minutes only) starts at 100 US Dollars. In my opinion, everything there is a little overpriced, but the park is beautiful and even without paying more for extra activities you can have a blast.
We had lunch at La Cocina, the Mexican buffet restaurant which was good.
Overall we had a wonderful and unique day, but we all agreed that Xel-Há was better.

We were surprised at the entry fee of MXN 3100 pesos for the full admission but after visiting the park we were not that all disappointed, it is an amazing park with hell a lot of activities to do and see, we could barely cover half of it in a day, may be we should have gone early (8:30am when they open) and then known which ones to cover when to optimize the time, this is where I felt this park is a let down, they just don’t provide any assistance in helping you where which activities are and how much time each one takes and how far are the places to one another so that we can know how to plan our day better. The Spectacular Mexico show at the end was classy, it was one of the best shows I have ever witnessed, overall it is definitely a must visit.

The venue is fantastic, surrounded by nature and extremely well set. We also enjoyed the amount of cultural performances. The Mexico Espetacular show is not to be missed. On the other hand we were saddened to see such a wide array of wild animals being held in close captivity and displaying clear signs of distress (in particular the pumas and scorpionfish). There was a tank with dozens of people having a ‘hands on experience’ where poor nurse sharks were overwhelmed by all the faffing and flailing of fins above their heads. There was also the ubiquitous dolphinarium where guests are offered a chance to have a ‘natural’ encounter with these captive creatures. The park claims to be conservationally minded, but we feel this should be taken with a pinch of salt considering the amount of money made through the exploitation of these defenseless animals.
