Don’t waste your money if you don’t know how to swim. My wife and I visited this place with our 4 years old son, and we didn’t enjoy at all. You need to pay extra money for almost all the activities besides snorkeling. And one more item they do bargains for almost everything. So don’t pay what ask.

Having been to the Mayan Riviera two other times, I have seen the slow decline of Xel-Ha over the course of 15 years. When I visited as a teen, I was blown away by the marine life, the coral health, the fresh to brackish to salt water marine diversity and the experience of how natural it all seemed. Unfortunately, that isn’t a reality anymore.
Seems that the combination of climate change, rising water temperatures, increased foot traffic from guests, and lack of care of the natural fauna killed this national treasure, and I’m absolutely gutted by the thought of how quickly it all happened.
It was once true to see hundreds if not thousands of fish, with super clear visibility, and a great abundance of aquatic life. I have pictures from even 7 years ago on our last trip, of seeing hundreds of sting rays in the bay of Xel-ha, and huge tuna, and tons of coral. Now it’s just a wasteland.
I’m against captive wildlife for guest experiences, such as swimming with dolphins (which are normally acquired very inhumanely), and this most recent visit to Xel-ha only cemented that opinion. Seven years ago, you could look down into the crystal clear waters of the dolphin pool and see them swimming around. Today, the waters are dark, murky, and you can barely see them a few inches below the surface. I hope regulators in Mexico are taking note of this, but something tells me they are not.
Seems the management of this park are aware of the issue, as several man-made attractions have been added over time, such as the lighthouse water slide, gardens, and the much more lax attitude about potentially harmful sunscreen. What a shame.

We were there Thursday, all inclusive. I will never understand the negative reviews, this place is great. We did everything there, and recommend it to everyone.

Me and my fiancé went here & absolutely loved it ! The included buffets were awesome! Tons of food, we loved the Mexican buffet the best. The adrenaline boat experience was our favorite. The boat goes super fast and does 360 turns and submerged into the water (of course they give you the heads up so your prepared for it all). We did the zip bikes which was nice to check out the scenery (go over a Cenote, over jungle, and even biked through a cave) it was nice. We jumped from the cliff which was 15 ft and snorkeled down the river, it was a great day. Was a wonderful park & again the food is great & of course we took advantage of the booze which is all included too 😁

Shop around for this. Be careful though with anyone offering you cheap tickets here in exchange for your time so they can show you a hotel or give you a presentation.
We are a family of 4 and the hotel we were staying at was offering admission plus transportation for $490UDS. I went to Playa and I was able to find the same package for more or less $400UDS. I ended up going with Expedia who offered it for 380USD.
The food at the mexican bufer is top notch. Besides this and the water slide, the rest is all overpriced. Every additional activity inside is extremely pricey.
I did the feet fish therapy for my sons at 16USD for 15 mins each. You find the same thing in Playa del Carmen for 10USD. I saw so many people come by to ask how much it was and leave once they found out the price. If they had offered it at $10 they would’ve made a lot more money because people kept showing interest before they knew the real cost. Too bad.
