We had heard from so many people that Xcaret was “not to be missed.” I beg to differ. To be clear, I had a lovely day with my family, but I just don’t understand the hype. It’s completely overpriced for what it is.
So, the floating down the river was actually tons of fun. I also really enjoyed seeing the butterfly sanctuary, and I did snorkel with one of my daughters.
But, in no world was this worth $150 per person to enter. We heard from so many people that the evening show was “not to be missed” and “so amazing.” We were so so so bored. It was supposed to be 2 hrs. After a 25 minute effort, we were just too bored to stay. If we had left at 5, the day would have been better. What I really hated about the park is that there are 2 options for a meal: the buffets which are either included in the $150 tkt or they are $30. So we enjoyed the lunch buffet. But my teenagers are not camels. They expect to eat lunch and dinner. My choice was pay another $30/person for a second buffet or….nothing. They seem to have popcorn/candy stands, but no place to just get like a quick dinner. We found one place by the show which had hamburgers and “popcorn chicken” and they were both completely terrible. I think the hamburger we purchased was probably made like a day or two prior to her eating it. It just looked gross. And the popcorn chicken….just. so. terrible. So i had two hungry teenagers on my hands, but insisted we stay bc well, “the show was not to be missed!”

Turístic trap. Expensive. Average buffet.
I did the whole thing in a wheelchair and it is an accessibility nightmare. Not a single flat path. All hilly and impossible to roll on a regular chair. Thanks got I had a freewheel and fat tires.
The attendants where great people.

We spent the day at xcaret and it was INCREDIBLE! Highly recommend doing the full course meal and show in the evening!

A great day for me and my sisters to celebrate my 50th birthday. Transportation from our resort to the property was super easy. Information about the day from the guide. There is something for everyone: zoo, beach, food, show. The river float was the best (I’d rent the fins for extra money if you’re…. Lazy!) they have colored tiles in the trials to help you break down the areas which was helpful. Bathrooms were clean. Lockers easy- they take your belongings from the river entry point to the exit. The people were kind and always helpful.
The show.
I’m a music teacher turned counselor so I maybe see things a little differently. 🙂.
Two hours, fabulous costumes, a HUGe cast, state of the art tech& stage, animals, confetti canons, and a variety of acts in an incredible stadium.
Did I sing along with the crowd?
Nope.
Did I understand the story of Mexican history being told? Nope.
But everything was done so well it didn’t matter. I loved young to old performers. Live musicians. (You go to Disney and Belle is singing to a track for safety. These musicians were live. A few enhancements but mostly people entertaining. What a lost, beautiful art in live shows)
And watching the native audience respond to familiar dances and songs was so fun. Made me wonder what a two hour American history tribute would like like…. But I digress
I felt like the employees were really sharing their home and culture with me. I hope that’s how they felt because it was a real privilege to receive and learn and experience so much fun and beauty here.
The directions back to the bus were simple, safe, done very well.
I thought the whole experience of “controlled adventure” was just right for three middle aged sisters away from home. Thanks for sharing- I would recommend to anyone who can walk and be in the sun all day. Easily comparable to a day ticket price at Disney

I would give this park a five star review if it wasn’t for the animals that are in the park. The thing that are rescued animals or nursery doesn’t make sense and pumas and jaguar wtf???? It is such an amazing place, xcaret doesn’t need animals there to be a wonderful place. Hope it will evolve.
