We booked this excursion through our resort with a small discount. Pickup/drop off was great and easy from our resort which was all handled through Cancun Adventures. On the catamaran the crew was fantastic! Andrea on catamaran 2 was our guide on the boat and she kept things light and fun. The rest of the crew was great and got us drinks whenever we liked and our lunch was actually very good. Boat was a little rocky on the water due to higher winds that day and I did end up slipping on the side of the boat, which was hysterical for many and only spilled a tad bit of my drink! Only issue was we didn’t snorkel or paddleboard due to weather so that was disappointing for the price we paid. On the island itself was fun as we walked through the streets of Isla Mujeres to the many shops and plenty of restaurants as well. We ended up not renting a golf cart and stayed in the downtown district. We regret this as we would have liked to see more attractions such as the turtles or Mayan temple on the island. Overall, great excursion.

The day started with us getting to the dock and once we were gathered by the boat we were told there would be no snorkeling because of wind, (about 15 mph). We were lead onto the boat around 8:30 AM and started our trip to the island. The crew were very nice and very attentive. They could not wait to start serving drinks, (its now about 9:00 AM)! At about 9:30 they came around with (lunch), or shall I say a poor excuse for lunch, another disappointment! For the next hour on the trip to the island the crew continued to ask who needed drinks, again this is early morning! As we got close to the island we were allowed to swim off the boat for maybe 10 minutes and we had to stay close because of the current. We then docked at the island at about 10:30 and were told they would pick us up at 1:30. We were told how wonderful this island was, but were totally floored by how poor the conditions were. Street after street of little shops with people selling crappy little souvenirs. 3 solid hours of being stuck at this place!!! Needless to say we were bored out of our minds. We booked this trip exclusively for the snorkeling and if it was cancelled for any reason there should have been a call placed to each resort so people could cancel. $109.00 per person for what turned out to be a waste of a whole day! If anyone takes this tour to snorkel, make damn sure they are predicting winds of less than 10 mph and don’t be lead into thinking this (island of women) is beautiful, IT’S NOT!!!

My wife, adult son and I had great experience with Cancun Adventures. We went on the catamaran sailing tour with snorkeling and 3.5 hours on Isla Muhares. On the island we took a taxi tour instead of the golf cart. We enjoyed it. After the tour,my wife wanted to shop for jewelry. The shop looked legitimate. We bought a ring with a Mayan diamond solitaire. The real name for the stone is Diaspore. We were told that it was natural and mined from cenotes. I’ve learned that it’s probably synthetic imported from China 🙁 Back aboard the boat were supposed to sail back to Port. Despite favorable winds, we powered all the way back. I still give 4 stars because the day was fun and the service and food was great. But I was looking forward to the sail.

My partner and I booked the Luxury Sailing Tour with Catamaran 2 and we were on the afternoon tour (to see the sunset on our way back).

The boat was pretty nice and we had a good group (not too many people). The crew was great (fun guide Bryan, drinks kept coming, overall positive energy). We all seemed to have a good time sailing to the island. The catamaran was on time picking us up on our way back and we did indeed see the sunset while sailing.

The lunch is more of an on board snack tray en route to the isle rather than a beach bbq, so adjust expectations (gourmet lunch is a stretch). Picky eaters might have issues with it. I wasn’t super hungry and enjoyed the guac and fruit.

We had nice weather, but it was windy and the ocean was choppy (not great for activities, including beginner snorkeling). Pay attention to the weather if you book this, you might not be able to do any of the advertised activities.

Although both me and my partner enjoyed the sailing portion, we were disappointed with some things. When we booked the tour, we were led to believe the price included activities such as: snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, golf cart tour of the island. However, all water activities are limited by the weather. Obviously, this isn’t a reflection on the crew, but it seems like most people aren’t able to enjoy the snorkeling because of this. I’m not a strong swimmer, so I stayed on the boat. My partner is and he enjoyed the snorkeling, saw underwater statues, some curious sea-life around the coral reef. He liked it. But others had a more difficult experience (one person had to turn back prematurely due to choppy conditions). After a while they were all herded back to the boat in a small group and seemed like they had been rescued after the 15-20 min of trying not to drown). The paddle boarding section was suppose to happen closer to the shore (why not from the beach?), but again, no one could even balance on the tethered board, let alone actually enjoy standing on it. The crew quickly ushered people back on the boat. There wasn’t a lot of swimming.

On the island there were suppose to be guided golf cart tours. Turns out, there’s no guided tour of the island and if you want a golf cart, you have to rent it (we were not told this before we were on the boat). You’re on the island for about 3 hours with not much to do, except shop or sunbathe. The boat drops you off and then returns to Cancun. We walked to Playa Norte (apparently one of the top beaches in the world according to our guide which sold us on it), but to compare, our resort beach was way nicer, with fewer people and right outside our door.. Oh, well… The island is also full of trinket and souvenir shops and everyone is aggressively trying to sell you things. If you like haggling, this is the place to do it.

TLDR: Super fun for sailing, don’t expect much in the way of activities, the boat is mostly just fun transportation from Cancun to the island (booze cruize). We enjoyed our day overall, but it’s hard not to enjoy a sunny ocean trip with drinks. We were a bit soured on the whole thing because we felt it falsely advertised itself, hence the 3 stars.
