Go early as soon as it opens. There’s too much to do and it felt like not enough time. The show in the evening was heartfelt as I am Mexican and proud of my interesting and diverse culture. The grounds are magnificent.

My fears were all confirmed concerning animal care and well being.
The park takes more pride in giving space for humans than the animals.
The enclosure for the eagle was ridiculously small and the eagle could not fly. Which is horrible when you know in the wild they fly a lot and high.
In a section of the aviary there was an incubator for eggs. One of the chick that was born was dead there. No water no food prepared for those little ones.
Sad and horrible.
The nurse shark tank is a small swimming pool where tourists sit down and supposedly caretakers who looks like entertainers are putting the nurse sharks on the lap of tourists who laugh frenetically.
Poor treatments for such gentle giant.
Don’t let me even speak about the dolphins. Their enclosure is ridiculously small and in contrary to what some people would like to make you think, no they cannot escape.
The park is OK for the sub rivers and better with land animals but anything that fly or swim is really receiving a poor treatment due to small enclosure and contact with tourists.
The park says it has program of reintroduction for some species but I really did not see any emphasis on wildlife respect while inside.
They also are proud to recycle 12% of waste…which means 88% waste is just well not recycled.
I am pretty much sure the park would say it has all the authorization from Mexican authorities and people who went to Mexico will know how laughable this can be.
The show in the evening is nice but I won’t go back, neither to any of xcaret park as I don’t want my money to finance such non caring parks.

Xcaret is a beautiful park but incredibly confusing. The first thing you should know and which was not explained to us at ANY point is that while the park is open until 9:00pm, EVERYTHING closes at 6:00pm except the evening show which is from 7-9. And the time you’ll waste wandering around their confusing signage means you will absolutely not see everything you want to see in that time.
Asking for directions from one of their guides means listening to a long speech about what restuarants are nearby and getting very vague instructions on the activities. It honestly felt at times like they didn’t want you to find the places you wanted to visit.
Still, I do recommend visiting as it’s a beautiful experience. Just go when they open as you won’t have long enough to do half of what you want in one day with the lost wandering and early closing.
The evening show is amazing but there is no social distancing in the seating.
Very little is explained about many of the attractions. For instance there’s a jaguar island but we couldn’t see any jaguars and there was no signage explaining anything about it. The Mexican cemetary is stunning but we kept asking ourselves “This must be a replica, right? Are these real people mentioned here?” The children wanted to visit the house of whispers but it can’t be found on any map. We finally stumbled upon it…at 6:05pm and it was closed.

Good and bad
The animals such as dolphins, ect are kept in such small spaces which is really upsetting.
The place itself is nice, the beach is lovely and the food places are good. There are lots of maps however its not sign posted well and the attractions are not explained very well. if you go on the lazy river, dont make the mistake we did. It seemed you were supposed to swim through and get off at different parts, however we didnt no this and swam through the whole thing. Swim through, climb out and there are places to put your stuff.
Fun experience. If you want to do any of the attractions then do them at the end as they discount them.
