What an experience! Buses were up to date nice and clean. Our guide was very detailed on time of departure. The park was clean and beautiful.

On a recent cruise to Cozumel we booked this excursion to Xcaret. We had to take about a 30 to 45 minute ferry ride directly from our ship across to the mainland. If you have done water taxis before, you know these can be a little rough. The trip there got very rough. I heard of a few getting sick. So be prepared. Once at the other dock, a rep from Xcaret met us at the pier. They lined us all up and we got on a charter bus. It was very clean and had AC. It was about a 20 minute trip. On the way there, our tour guide, I think his name was Javier(the little mayan), passed out maps and explained the layout of the park and what to expect when we got there. He was very helpful, friendly, and seemed pretty knowledgeable about the park. He offered a short guided tour of some areas at the park. And also told us we were free to roam once there if we wanted to. The walking tour took about 45 minutes. It was a little fast at parts, but we had the option to revisit any of it later if we wanted to. The park is layed-out great with colored lines along the paths that match the map. Also all the booths, stores and attractions are numbered in front of them and on the map. It’s really easy to find your way around. After the walking tour, Javier showed us here to get a life jacket and the entrance to the lazy rivers. With 3 options depending on how much cave vs non cave you want. We chose the 50-50 option. The river started out a little cold, but we adjusted quickly. It’s not your typical lazy river though. There is not much of a current to push you along. At 5’8 I had trouble touching bottom for most of the trip. It’s not difficult to float and kick along though with the vest on. In the caves, there are ropes to pull yourself through. The caves we saw were a nice length but only a small portion got really dark. There are places to get out occasionally. But from start to finish took us about an hour. At the start they have lockable bags to store your stuff in. And they meet you at the end with your stuff. So if you get out early you have to walk to the end anyways. Afterwards we had lunch at a place Javier suggested because he said they were quick. The service was okay. And the food which was really good came out quick. But it did take awhile to get a check. Afterwards we walked to a small beach area and hung out until time to go. The entire park was really nice and had lots of options of things to do. Between the transportation time and floating the river though, it felt like we only saw a small part of it. We will definitely be back though. Xcaret even has a hotel that includes access too all their parks. So we may do that instead of a cruise and excursion next time.

We met with an Amstar agent who introduced us to Xcaret and based on his recommendation we decided to go with it. First off the entrance fee was $300 which does not include any activities. We had to pay additional for everything else.

Made it to the bus just in time for the bus to pull off with us right behind. The tour guide of the bus watched us run to the bus and made no attempt to contact the driver and say we were 30seconds from boarding. Now we have to have our hotel handle our transportation because the woman failed to do her job. This is unacceptable and we will never return to this park again for this reason alone. We will also make sure to tell every guest at our resort what a horrible customer service policy you have!!!

Xcaret was fascinating. There are so many things to do. There were many things that we were unable to do because our children are very small, but we knew that was going to be the case ahead of time. So, it was a little pricey for us to just walk around for the day. Our package included transportation to & from resort, admission, lunch buffet (no alcohol) & snorkel rental. For 2 adults, a 3yr old & 1 yr old, it cost approx. 4406mxn/306usd/418cad. We were at Xcaret from 8am to 4:30pm and it felt like we only saw a small fraction of what they have.
I am definitely glad that we rented a double stroller there, but at time it was hard to get through crowded areas. It cost us an additional 400mxn/21usd/28cad.
I personally would recommend this place for older kids that can walk & swim all day. I wouldn’t come back until my kids are older. It would have been nice to enjoy the lazy rivers. We just chose this place because there are not a lot of excursions to take small kids on.
