Xcaret is an amazing place with so much to see and do. The park is well maintained and there are a lot of employees to help guide you or answer questions. The Butterfly Pavilion, underground lazy river (more on this later), and the Dolphin experience (extra cost) were amazing and our favorites! We added the plus experience and had a special area to change, shower, use the restroom and lockers. We also had tte buffet included which was huge and had some amazingly delicious options. I am not a buffet person but it was very good.
While we enjoyed the Lazy River, it is not really a lazy river but more of a “be prepared to swim against the current” river which you do for quite a bit of it. I am a strong swimmer and was tired at the end. I also chose not to wear flippers (optional) and neither did my family. We saw many people struggling even with flippers on and getting out of the river at the halfway point out of breath and looking fatigued. Just be prepared for some exertion.
The only two negatives would be the fact that there are a lot of very cool experiences that are not included and should you want to include them they come at a significant cost after you already paid a lot for the package to get to and into the park. Also if you do buy an extra experience and have bought the general admission photo package, it does not cover photos taken during your experience. So after plunking down almost $600 + for a family of 4 for the Dolphin experience, they wanted another $360 for the photo package which they send all photos to you digitally. That is pretty steep after already paying $680 for the transportation, entry into the park, special changing, locker, bathroom area, and a buffet lunch with one drink.
Overall, Xcaret is a must do while visiting Cancun. It is very well run, a beautiful place with so much to do and see. We have traveled to Cancun many times but this was our first trip to Xcaret and are happy we did it but do not think we would go again only because it was nearly a $1600 day and there us just so many places to see and things to do while visiting this beautiful part of Mexico. Oh and stay for the evening show. It is beautifully done and my entire family enjoyed it!

We were picked up from Moon Palace. The bus ride felt like a timeshare presentation for 45 minutes. After reaching our destination, our timeshare presenter escorted us directly to the cashier so we can purchase additional activities. I already spent approximately $600 for party of 4 to enter the park. The park was way over crowded. Swimming in the natural river was pretty nice. Overall activities were pretty disappointing. We left the park and the ride to hell began. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get back. 2 1/2 hours!!!!! We stopped at 6 other hotels to drop off other passengers. How is this ever OK? 2-3 stops is reasonable but 6….laughable.

We rented a car so we could arrive early and left when the show ended. People that go in the tour bus arrive around 10 am and leave about 40 minutes after the end of the show. Parking is free. The park is beautiful and has lots of things to learn. Lots of native species to admire: birds, butterflies, fish, turtles, felines, etc. We recommend the bread at the Pueblito Maya. It was delicious! The final show is a must. It is a lot of work with so many dancers doing such a variety of presentations! I cannot understand how some people can miss it! We brought our snorkels, a light snack and a bottle to refill as there are water fountains along the park. We do not think it makes sense to pay to upgrade the pass for a buffet and a full meal at the end. We prefer light food like sandwiches and snacks (they are available in different locations in the park) when we are in an amusement park. The gift shop has lots of things! If it is your first time at the park, do not book/pay extra activities, you will not have time to do them without missing some of the included attractions. Some people say not to watch the shows during the day because they are repeated at night. We do not agree: watch some of the shows during the day. They repeat short clips of them during the final show but it is not the same!

Felt very overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of guests – even though they stated they were controlling entries, i probably will attend again in the future, others in our group enjoyed Xel-Ha much more than this location and it is very overpriced for the value received.
