Highly overrated, so naturally overpriced. Except from underground river, not much to do. Park is nice and beautiful to walk around but does it worth all the money and time? For us, definitely it did not.

You MUST set aside at least 2 full days of your vacation to totally see and do Parque Xcaret. There is so much to see and do is unbelievable. Make sure to get a locker. Wear walking shoes and of course, do not forget your bathing suit and water shoes. This park has everything! You can spend the entire day walking around visiting the aquarium, the bird sanctuary, the butterflies, they Pueblo Maya, etc. Or you can swim in the awesome river until your heart is content. You can swim with the dolphins, and even visit a cemetery! You can attend workshops and learn how to make chocolate and Mexican art. And of course, you eat delicious food and drink fabulous margaritas. But you can also spend all day in the kids area. They are a lot of fun and are specially designed for the little ones and their parents. All you have to do is have fun. And do not forget to enjoy the outstanding night show. It is something to see!

Mixed experience. The park itself is fantastic – an amazing day out, beautiful scenery and a fantastic show in the evening. However, there are some really big downsides:
1) Both Xcaret and Xel Ha have captive dolphins / swim with dolphins experience. The enclosures for the dolphins are small (especially given the thousands of miles these animals would travel in the wild). That was really sad to see and cuts against a lot of the good things the park are doing in other areas (for instance breeding and releasing into the wild turtles).
2) Across all parks we visited (Xel Ha and Xcaret) they clip wings of the beautiful macaw so that they have to sit on a perch all day for tourists to take photos. Given that they have an aviary where other birds can fly “free” surely at a minimum these macaws should be able to fly unclipped in the aviary without having to have their wings clipped for a tourist to take a quick picture?)
3) Generally the treatment is animals was somewhat mixed. They do some undeniably great things (including releasing some macaws into the wild) and some of the animal pens seemed nicely done, but there were other pens (the deer pen, some of the turtles etc) that looked very small.
4) One other and far more minor criticism is that the queues to get in for a pre show dinner (even if you start queuing hours before the show) are ridiculous – apparently it is common to have to queue for over an hour so bear that in mind.
It’s a shame because if it weren’t for the treatment of some of the animals this review would be a 5*.

Great park! Some highlights include swimming the underground river, snorkeling, the Mayan ruins, the night show, and actually the buffet. Did it all in one day, and didn’t feel like I needed more. Upgraded to the Plus admission ticket, which was worth it; the lockers were really helpful, to not have to carry all my stuff all day.
Opted to use their transportation, which was a mixed bag. On the plus side, it was great not to have to worry about getting myself there and back. On the downside, the pickup was a hot mess. When the buses arrived, the instructions were confusing from the start, and then dozens of people stood around in confusion trying to figure out which line/bus to go to. Even though I bought the ticket through their app, which said to show the digital ticket, one of the employees insisted that I had to have a printed ticket–again, confusing/misleading, and you’d think they’d have that streamlined at this point. Luckily tour guide Jesica was empathetic and helped to resolve the confusion. She was friendly, enthusiastic, spoke English really well, and overall saved a very stressful start to the day.
I recommend the park, but not their transportation service.

Just a fantastic place to see. You need at least two days to even get to experience the whole park. And do NOT miss the final show its worth the price of admission.
