Great experience! I just wished that i had read and studied how much things cost in the park. It’s very expensive for being Mexico. $898/person pesos for a buffet lunch. You need a locker for the river float.
I would recommend downloading the XCARET! App. Find the prices for more activities. They are pricey.
Plan your stay. Everyone goes tot the river first- it seems. You can go later. Try the snorkeling near the bay first to beat the crowds. Dry off walking through the butterfly and aviary, plan your lunch for 2 pm. Take snacks. Around 3 pm when the heat is at its worse ride down the river it takes an 45 min to an hour. Bring a change of clothes.
Plan for lots of people roughly less than 6000 visitors where there.
Water socks are a must since there are rocks

I booked the park ticket, with sea walk and transportation online from the UK prior to our holiday. The price was on the expensive side but not so much to put me off.
The whole day and park was organised very well. No hiccups with the transport at all.
The place is super clean.
When you arrive you are directed to go on the river swim. Put your things in a locker and get a bag to be transported to the end of the river which has a towel and footwear in. We didn’t bother with the towel. You dry off in the sun quick enough.
Our ticket included a buffet style meal. There are plenty of places to chose from to eat and I would recommend going about 13.00 hours to avoid the queue. The food choice was good. I am.a vegetarian so sometimes struggle abroad with variety but it was not the case here. This does mean you will be peckish later if you are staying for the show though and may want to buy or takes snacks to keep you going.
Sea trek was cancelled on the day so we were offered swimming with sharks. This was a good experience but I agree with other reviews. If the sealife they have there just live in the small pools you swim with them ( likewise for the dolphins ) it feels too small an area for them to be in all of the time.
Despite this, the show was again, organised very well. We Stayed for the evening show which was very good. Overall. No complaints.

We stayed at the Hotel Xcaret and visited several of the parks as part of our stay. We visited Xcaret last week and had a great time exploring! We went down 2 of the rivers, the Blue and the Mayan (the Manatee was closed), we preferred the Mayan and recommend the flippers. The park has a bit of everything: zoo, aquarium, Mayan village, butterfly pavilion, aviary, rivers, snorkeling, beach, food. I feel like we could come back and still have plenty to see. The Espectacular show really was a phenomenal show; the combination of the full stadium of excited spectators and excellent performers, plus a few jaw dropping moments, made it something I won’t soon forget. It was evident that the creators of the park, and especially the show, love Mexico and want to share that with locals and visitors alike. I certainly felt my appreciation for Mexico, it’s unique history, and it’s wonderful people grow. Beauty of the park and entertainment aside, I have to mention what really felt like the heart of Xcaret experience was the staff. Nearly every experience was very positive with the employees. It felt like the “Disney” of Mexico in that way. That and the frequently cleaned bathrooms. On our visit, it threatened rain. As we wandered into the Mayan pueblo, we saw a sign showing a chocolate making workshop. We saw we were 15 minutes past the first workshop and the next wasn’t for a couple hours, but we entered the hut to see if we could observe a workshop from afar. Instead the hut was empty except for Tomas. He let us know when the next class was, but as we asked a few more questions, he instead chose to go above and beyond and gave us our own class and let us participate in making chocolate in the Mayan way. It happened to perfectly time with the only downpour of the day and was a magical moment of our day! Tomas was super knowledgeable and had such a humble and kind spirit. I learned a lot about chocolate that day, and was equally interested in listening to Tomas’ experience of learning to use the mortar/pestle style metate y metlapil with his abuela grinding corn for tortillas. What a neat window into a different and beautiful culture, both past and present. HUGE shout out to the amazing Tomas. Go visit him at the chocolate workshop! Also we mistakenly left our $ at the hotel (didn’t really need it for the other parks), but I regretted it here. I wasn’t interested in the main gift shop with an “Xcaret” label slapped onto a mug made in China, but the Maya Pueblo/village has local artisans that are both demonstrating their craft, allowing you to participate in a craft, and selling their wares. THIS is where I wanted to pick up souvenirs. I wanted to make a quick trip before our plane left the next day to grab some things for our kids, but we couldn’t risk it. Even though the bus transportation comes fairly frequently, it takes longer than expected as it makes a loop to each nearby park and hotel. So bring some money along for authentic and beautiful creations.

There’s a lot to see as far as the animals are concerned. You won’t see the Pumas because it’s too hot and they are hiding≥ There’s a butterfly exhibit but we didn’t see many but we did see a lot of cocoon’s. The underground river was fun and refreshing. The Mexican history extravaganza was okay but a little on the boring side for me since I’m not Mexican. My wife is and she loved it. Besides it was pretty hot in that stadium. Overall I gave it a 3 but my wife gave it a 5. She loved it.

If you want to get the most out of the park, buy an unlimited entry ticket for the duration of your stay. One or two days just isn’t enough to see everything, including the shows.
