This is a very large park: I walked 8 miles in one day. None of the attractions are really memorable. The two that I recommend are the lazy river and the late night show. The rest are very expensive and questionable. Just to illustrate how bad it can be: I went to buy an attraction – snorkeling on the reef – and I asked if this is a good day to do it. They said “yes, of course” and took my money. After a half hour ride on rough seas, we arrived at the snorkeling spot that was all churned up. You could not see 3 feet in front of your mask. There was nobody to deal with upon arrival to get my money back. Let’s not forget that the admission price is $129 per adult and $99 per child. For what you get, it is not worth it.

This Park is full of nature, beautiful beaches, the underground river was a magic experience. Xcaret offers many shows during the day, but the closing show was just amazing, the history of Mayans and Mexico..full of music, dances, culture… it’s one of the best!! The ticket may seem expensive, but it is completely worth it.

We were on the fence about this place since we were trying to avoid the touristy places. However, every local we asked about it raved about how cool it was. They weren’t wrong! This place is VAST, it is a multi-day visit for sure.
GET the plus pass-it comes with buffet lunch and lockers (which you will definitely need)
BRING towels and a change of clothes, bring water shoes if you have them.
GET the photopass (extra 60 USD) if you can, there are cameras all around the park that take your pics with animals and art.
GET dinner tickets to the Spectacular show at night. Get them early so you get a good seat. The food and service was great.
If not all of these are in your budget, skip the photopass (take your own) and the dinner reservation for the show and just go in early to get free seats, they are just up higher in the stadium.

I quite liked visiting Xcaret as I love all the animals and ruins displayed there. The map is very useful and the different coloured trails is quite fun to follow. I quite enjoyed the lazy river although I wouldn’t label it as a “lazy river”. The staff was very nice and informative and the food was quite nice. The reason why I am giving it three stars is because of the evening entertainment. The first part was absolutely amazing but the second part was quite boring to us and we were falling asleep. I think it is more aimed towards the locals and ideally not towards the tourists. Also the bus driver on the way back to the hotel was a maniac. I know Mexican drivers are known to be quite fast and a bit dangerous but one time the bus driver went over a pot hole very fast and there was no apology or anything. All in all, I think it is a lovely park to walk through during the day but the evening entertainment is not worth the money.

This park more than met our expectations. The areas were beautiful and they more than delivered on the experiences. I recommend purchasing the plus option with food, locker and snorkel equipment. There are many restaurants and the food is very good. Another tip is to do water activities first and then explore the rest of the park after (don’t forget to bring water shoes).
