We had unlimited visits as part of our hotel package – the first few visits were in the evening, for dia de Los muertos and to watch the evening spectacular show. These were fantastic.
We came back in the daytime and honestly wish we hadn’t. The swim through river was packed so you couldn’t move, same for the snorkelling area and aquarium.
But the worst was the amount of sad looking animals in tiny enclosures. I came here because I love animals and seeing them in such boring, tiny spaces with no shelter was horrible.
The horses in the stables had no water. There were chicks in an incubator pecking each other to death. Dolphins and sharks swimming round in circles in pools smaller than the hotels pool.
Would not return, save your money and time

Having read at least 100 reviews, our expectations were pretty level before going. By the end of our trip, I can’t imagine our vacation without it! And I want to tell all of my friends!
I agree with many of the reviews that it’s great for kids. You only have to be 1 to swim in the cenote River (?!?!?!) We have no kids and loved xcaret because none of us are into adventurous outdoors activities, which are expensive. The River was about as much adventure as we could take, and it was free. The park is so pretty! The beach is stunning. Massages are about $1.50 per minute in the cenote. Just walking around and taking In the sights takes all day. There’s art, culture, history and physical activities. The food was good too. The show was a lot of fun. The dinner (show) was good enough, but you can’t put a price on the convenience and comfort of assigned seating and being close to the bathrooms and exit. Totally worth it. I don’t like duck, but I enjoyed eating everything else in the seven course sample dinner.
There are various shows and demonstrations throughout the day, so maybe downloading the app will help you plan better. There’s this wonderful wool sewing vendor with the actual sheep on sight. Reasonably priced and super friendly. You can borrow towels and lockers and buy everything you need on site. Prices aren’t cheap but they aren’t super expensive either. I bought three cute beach towels for $51 as souvenirs for my friends and me. Changing areas aren’t totally comfortable but they’re not bad. Much better than public beaches in the US.
Transportation is really convenient. I wish chichen itza tours had the same arrangement so you aren’t sitting on a bus picking people up all day! Our hotel was the only stop coming home. Great!
That said, it’s not that far away, so we could have probably cabbed it both ways and save some money and time.

We went with a excursion from the Symphony of the Sea. The park was very clean and the food amazing. We did the Mayan River with the kids and it was beautiful. You need more than one day to enjoy the whole park and all the activities

Xcaret park is fantastic! The three rivers were fun to explore. Tons of activities, and lots of animals. The show at night is fabulous. Best show anywhere!
