With a group of friends and our teen-age children, we went on the Isla Mujeres cruise. It is not really sailing as we used a motor and on the way to Isla Mujeres, we didn’t even open the sail.
We went snorkeling and saw some fish. The coral in the area is mainly dead, however, and it was like snorkeling over a coral graveyard. The sailing and snorkeling were okay, however. It was quite choppy on the water and the staff worked hard to ensure everyone’s safety.
The staff on the boat were friendly, entertaining, and helpful. We went on the afternoon tour and the sunset was gorgeous.
Our main problem was that we had not read about Isla Mujeres–it is very crowded and dirty. It is probably fine if you seek cheap beer and a way to waste a few hours. We wouldn’t return. We went to the beach opposite the main ports and crowded tourist shops and bars and sat on the beach. The beach had some rubbish on it, including cans and discarded rubbers. Also, the island was devastated by a hurricane and a number of buildings are still partially standing.
Our main problem came at the end of the trip. We decided to purchase photos from the trip. We paid $40 plus tax. So far, even after repeated emails, no photos and no refund (as has been requested).
I would try another “sailing” trip if this is what you are interested in.

It was a great experience and the crew and photographer were fantastic. Will do again on the next trip.

I really wish I could give this Activity 5 stars but unfortunately after driving an hour to get to the marina we found out we were not going to be able to do the snorkeling or paddle boarding which I understand is not their fault but I feel we should have been told before we drove an hour to get there and that way we would have had an opportunity to reschedule for another day. On the boat the food was really great and the service was amazing but in the end it was a really expensive “ferry ride” to the island. We were told we would have more time on the island to balance out not being able to do the water activities but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. When we got there we went for a 30-minute massage on the beach which by the way is absolutely amazing totally worth it and only $15 after that we rented a golf cart started driving but realized 20 minutes later we had to turn around and go back so we didn’t get to explore or see any of the island wish we had more time so in the end if I had known we wouldn’t be able to do the water activities I probably would have just caught a ferry over to the island in the morning so I would have had the whole day to do what I wanted not having to watch the time and catch a ride back . would have done it different.

Arturo and crew were amazing. They served us lunch alittle early. But all in all a great experience. Had almost three hours on the island. I don’t see how you could combine sailing snorkeling and shop all in one day any better.
