My friend and I went to Cacun to celebrate my 30th birthday and we knew we wanted to do something other than just hanging around our resort. We had two things that we knew we wanted to do: see some Mayan ruins and swim in a cenote. We did some research on TripAdvisor and found Ocean Tours’ 3-in-1 Discovery Combo. It had great reviews and checked everything off our list. We were not disappointed.
We stayed at Secrets Play Mujeres at the very east end of Cancun so we were picked up first before the sun even came up. Carlos, our driver, and Fernando, our guide, picked us up with smiles on their faces and asked if we had gotten chance to have any breakfast. We told them no, that the restaurants weren’t open that early and they were kind enough to stop at a 7-11 and Starbucks to allow us a chance to get some food in our bellies.
We stopped to pick up a few more groups and had a full group of 12 people, most were from the states but there was one pair from Spain. Fernando did a great job at giving the tour in English and in Spanish. He was knowledgeable, friendly and really wonderful! Our first stop was the Tulum ruins and he showed us all the important spots and pointed out some really interesting things. We were given a few minutes at the end of the walk around to wander and take photos ourselves as well which was nice.
We then met back up with the van and headed to a beach not far from the ruins. We boarded two boats and headed to a snorkeling spot. We had a private photographer named Gui who spent the day with us as well taking our photos through the various activities. It was all high quality and we had the option to buy them at the end of the tour after viewing the photos in a slide show. There was no pressure to do so but the whole group ended up buying them because they were such great photos. And Gui was very easy on the eyes so that didn’t hurt either.
After snorkeling we got back into the van and headed to the cenotes. We had the place to ourselves and got to spend some quality time exploring the caves. We learned all about the geology and history of the caves and how all of them are connected through tunnels and passageways which is pretty awesome. We had some scuba divers come up which scared one of the girls on the tour, that was pretty funny.
After changing out of our swimsuits and into some dry clothes we walked through another cenote and then were treated to a pulled pork taco lunch. Really tasty and had great sides accompanying it. After lunch we all headed back to the van and were dropped off at our various hotels. For us it was a 12 hour day since we were the farthest out. But well worth it. Fernando, Carlos and Gui were a lot of fun, professional, knowledgeable and all around great people. Would highly recommend this tour and will use their services again if I go back to Cancun!

This is an excellent tour. We had a driver and guide all day to take us from our hotel to Tulum, the beach for snorkeling, and two cenotes. The cenotes were the true highlight of the trip, the first one we swam in the cave to a few different areas as the guide told us interesting facts. The photographer Carolina was really fun and sweet and made the trip more relaxing knowing we didn’t have to worry about taking a ton of pictures during the experience.
My only complaint is that it was longer than expected, timing around 11.5 hours including pick up and drop off and we were a small group of 6. Although the 3-in-1 is a lot to do in one day we still managed to have down time which seemed unplanned.

The tour was amazing! Our bus driver Juan Luis came to pick us up from our hotel directly. He stays with the van the entire day, so we were able to leave out stuff on there and walk around with only what was needed. First visited Tulum which was beautiful. Fernando, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Tulum and the Maya culture. He was able to answer all of our questions. Afterwards we went to a beach 5 min away from Tulum and got on small boats to go snorkeling on the Tulum reefs. I would recommend wearing your bathing suit under your cloths but if you don’t there are dressing rooms you can use. Once we were done snorkeling we went back on the bus for a 15-20 minute drive to the cenote. We visited two separate cenotes (one wet and one dry). Before going into the wet cenote we rinsed ourselves in an outdoor shower. Inside the cenote was incredible. After visiting the wet cenote we were given the opportunity to dry off and change. I would recommend bringing baggy pants and long sleeve shirt. The cenotes are located in the jungle and there will be mosiquitos. After changing we went to go see the dry cenote. Afterwards we were able to have a traditional Mexican dish at the restaurant. Ocean Tours had food for us through-out the entire day: before going to Tulum, after visiting Tulum, after snorkeling, and after the cenotes. The also had plenty of water. I brought water in snacks just in case but honestly didn’t need them. After we were done eating out photographer Guillermo showed us all the pictures he took through-out the entire day. There was over 200 of them, the entire set could be purchased for $40 cash (with USD or pesos). They were amazing pictures: he was able to take candid photos when we weren’t looking, as well as posed photos infront of the gorgeous landmarks/beach. He was super creative and got images of us jumping off the boat for the snorkel, and going into the cenotes. Overall the trip was amazing and I highly recommend it.

Ricardo was an absolutely great guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. We had a photographer along for the day and she did a fantastic job. We learned so much about the Myan history. Snorkeling at the second largest barrier reef was beautiful. The weather experienced two cenotes. The wet one was breath taking. Words cannot describe it. The dry one was also fantastic. We enjoyed a traditional Mexican meal as well. This is well worth doing.

What a fantastic Trip. we were picked up by Mariano & charlie in the early morning and driven to Akumel to begin our adventure.
The snorkelling side was well organised and we got to see two sea turtles among other fish!
the cenote was fantastic and Mariano made everyone enjoy the trip even more
Tulum finished the day with fantastic ruins and views.
Thank you
