Fantastic Day out. But be prepared as there is soooo much to see it’s certainly worth getting there early. We decided to do the trip independently and we saved around $150. We took a taxi and bought a plus pass which meant admission, lunch and snorkling. Once inside you can pay addition for other extras, such as sea trek (weird scuba hybrid) power boat rides, swimming with dolphin’s and many other things. They slowly start to add up. If you want to do everything then get a combined ticket. Make sure you take drinks and snacks.
They have some great attractions, but the cenote is by far the highlight. One of the more bizzare areas was the Chapel and grave yard area…..believe or not, its worth taking a look at just to admire the bizzare grave stones.
There is an evening show that goes on until 10pm, but it was far to late for us.

Beautiful and unique experience!!!! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!!! I can only recommend it, you have to witness it by yourself!

The river walk was amazing however the night show was incredibly beautiful. We chose the plus pass and it was good as it came with a buffet meal.

The entire park was beautiful, clean and exciting. The animals, the shows and the activities were so much fun. The maps and event posters were everywhere… those paired with the color coded paths made it pretty easy to find your way around from activity to activity. The App allows you to follow around the map, pinpoint the activities or things you want to do/see, etc… LOVED the app!
The snorkeling spot was the perfect size with lots of cool fish. Great swimming areas. The rivers were fun to float down and convenient to pick your belongings up at the end.. and at the end of the rivers there was a beautiful relaxing hammock spot overlooking the ocean with a little store/snack shop. The shows were wonderful! My family (myself 37/fiancé 37 and our kids 15 & 7) really enjoyed the experience. We bought 2 day tickets after watching video reviews and it was worth it! Although I would love to see some Canadian promos! Everything we found was USD which made the conversion much more expensive.
The few items that stopped me from giving it a 5 star excellent rating would be:
1. The price of the “extra activities” such as Dolphin experience, in park photos etc. was very very high. We didn’t initially buy the photo fee on our 2 day pass but asked about it Day2 when checking in and they would only sell it if we bought it on all 4 tickets… even though we only needed 1. And Dolphin activities are always very overpriced for the actual time to spend with the beautiful creatures… people 1 on 1 experience lasted roughly 2-3min for almost $100US.
2. We were having trouble finding the snack bars but found the buffets. We asked the staff at the buffets where we could find the snack bars and smaller restaurants that serve individual items (not buffets) and all 5 told us they either didn’t know or there weren’t any they recommend the buffet. We were hot and tired so gave in and waited 45min in the buffet line to eat a few hot dogs, wings and brownies which cost us $140USD (almost $200 CAD)… we left the buffet, walked down a side path on the other side of the water…less than 5min… and snack bar with hot dogs, nachos, fries etc! Buffets are $40USD over 12yo, $16USD under 12 and not a huge selection of food.
3. Taxi service to and from… the TAXI sign outside of the entrance (booth is part of the park and has an “agreement with the park”) says 22 pesos=1USD… day 1 we didn’t pay close enough attention but paid 2 different rates to/from the park which seemed much higher than expected. Day 2 they first gave us the fee in pesos- then USD… I did the conversion and they were overcharging by $5USD. I went back to the guy guiding everyone to the Taxi’s- asked him about the sign which literally had the word Taxi and the Peso amounts with the conversion in big numbers on top and he insisted that the conversion had nothing to do with taxi conversion and that was only inside the park. We had no choice but overpay. I highly recommend bringing pesos for transportation.

A most excellent and memorable day at Xcaret, we loved the pools and swimming with the stingrays, highly recommended.
